Very large and impressive early Dynastic or pre-dynastic stamp seal, Mesopotamia, ca. late 4th.-early 3rd. millenium BC.

The seal hemispheric, drilled through the top in a greenish-black stone with a high relief engraving of a 4-legged animal.

Size: 30 mm. in diameter and 16,5 mm. high.

Condition: Choice, fine patina and wear but intact.

This exciting little piece is a grey pottery urn from the Han Dynasty of ancient China (206 BC - 220 AD). It has a plain but elegant shape with incised line decoration. The surface has light soil encrustations and traces of root fibers from extended burial. There are no signs of repair or restoration. It measures just under 13 cm in height and weighs 618 grams. Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Horse (AD 618 - 906)

This pottery horse was made during the early part of the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It stands upright with its head turned very slightly to its left. It is made from a buff-coloured pottery and is particularly "heavily-potted". Looking inside the body shows it was made in a two-piece mould. It has been "cold painted" in a base coat of a creamy-white pigment with details picked out in red and black pigments...

Crafted of hardwood aged to a rich, warm patina, this exceptional folk art walking stick features a shaft containing natural smoothed knobs that give this stick an elegant feel. A leather strap allows this classic walking stick to be worn around the belt or wrist for ease of use. Sturdy enough for everyday use, it measures about 32 inches long with the strap being 6".

Early 19th century Japanese sword knife (kozuka) handle made of sentoku (alloy consisting of copper, zinc and tin) with inlaid scene of two birds on the riverbank by rocks, grasses and a woven rattan container with stones - such bundles were used for shoring riverbanks during floods. Excellent quality mixed metals inlays, wonderful crisp work. Some indents to the narrow sides from usage, otherwise in very good condition. Length 3 13/16 inches.

A fine larger blackstone stamp seal of the gable form, popular in Northern Mesopotamia and Anatolia in the Ubaid period, 4th. mill. BC.

The seal shows a horned animal in a strongly archaic style.

A fine woven tonkotsu, 19th century.

Deftly woven with very thin strips of bamboo then lacquered to strengthen and waterproof. The cord guides and knop are cleverly integral and remain complete and in good condition. Within the lid there is a maker's 'ruyi' mark in red lacquer. This set comprising of tobacco box, agate ojime and stag horn netsuke must have been brought back from Japan as a souvenir and perhaps kept in a cupboard, it is, except for some slight wear, in perfect condition. ...

A lovely tall square stamp seal in a green stone carved with a star-ornamentet handle and a the base engraved with a wonderful scene of a two stags or caprides, one of the them eating a large branch with leaves. Attractive and unusual!
