Japanese inro with 5 compartments decorated all around with a scene of a mountain stream running down hill through rocks and low tree branches. On one side of the inro, the stream falls over rocks and continues on the other side of the inro in a striated current. Various trees including blossoming fruit trees and pines spring from the rocks. Pine saplings emerge from a gold mist in the foreground. Created with a fine raised gold maki-e lacquer technique and inlaid with gold metal flecks...

A bronze brazier, also known as a hibachi. The workmanship of the brazier is intricate with one side showing a motif of Chinese stye lions mingling among peonies and the other, geese flying over reeds in a marsh. The sides are demon or beast like shaped heads with an insert to put rings to decorate the piece. Age: Meiji Period Size: Diameter 8" Height 13.25"

Antique Chinese carved jade snuff bottle. An even pale green jade carved with peaches on one side and four characters on the other. The jade is an even tone accented by two slightly diagonal striations running through. The lid is a mottled yellow glass and bronze with a bronze spoon.

Rare Bird's Nest sterling silver baby cup. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York, ca 1870. Ovoid bowl on stepped foot. Scroll handle with squiggle tail. Bowl has shaped pointille ornament and wire scrollwork applied with cast fluttering and flapping birds. Beading. Oval frame engraved with 3-letter monogram. A very rare large Han tomb pillar with stamped designs on three side. Front panel is stamped with four alternating designs of three trees with cloud formations and four girls carrying something over their heads. Each panel is separated with cloud formations. The two side panels have diamond shaped designs all the way to the bottom.In northern China during the Han dynasty, hollow clay bricks were used to construct the small, rectangular chambers of underground tombs...

Antique Japanese bronze statue of a hooded lady sitting upon a hardwood stand. She holds a cup in her hand with a small dish resting beside her feet. She is wonderfully sculpted with realistic detailing and form. The hardwood stand she is seated on is carved to look like rock formations with leaves and mushrooms with pigment traces. Meiji period (1868-1912)

A rare massive Imari Charger made during the Royal Meiji period of Japan most likely for an Exhibition if not a special order. Most Imari pieces are much smaller.

A Japanese porcelain koi dragon resting on the enameled base to simulate bronze with an open mouth and a sphere on the tongue. Entirely in glazed white porcelain with gold decorations on the fins, tail and long whiskers. Legend has it that a Koi carp leaping from the depths of the river attracted the attention of local demons, who stepped up the waterfall out of mischief. After a hundred years of jumping, a Koi finally reached the top of the waterfall...

Edwardian Art Nouveau sterling silver bowl. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York, ca 1907. Four curved and wavy sides with concave corners and molded rim. On exterior are acid-etched ogee frames (vacant) surmounted by dense leafing branches. Engraved monogram. Vase in the shape of a fish. Iron inlaid with gold and silver. Turquoise stone detail and red eye, either glass or ruby. On the reverse, a tie was soldered to the pewter later to be able to suspend it and thus make it a wall vase. But it seems to me that the object was simply made to be placed on a table. The silver inlays are very numerous, but oxidized in black, they have become almost invisible, however they are clearly distinguishable on the enlargements...

Antique Japanese low tansu made with hinoki (cypress) wood with deep brown original finish. The front has two slatted sliding doors with crossing iron lock plating in the center. Behind each door is an identical set of interior drawers with locks for each one. Simple and very functional. Dates from the Edo Age 18th century. Size: 21" height, 42" length, 23.5" depth

A Japanese boxwood netsuke depicting Shojo crouched in a typical posture, with his hand resting on his knee, while sleeping from the effects of too much sake, the kimono is finely carved with geometric motifs as well as the long hair on the back. Similar examples of the Nagoya carvers are illustrated in Meinertzhagen, MCI, p.844, Davey, MTH, p.189, no.570 and Lazarnick, NIA, p. .1063. Edo period 19th century Sizes: 3,3 x 2,7 x 2,6 cm.
