Sterling silver lettuce fork in International's 1907 "Margaret" pattern. Originally intended to serve iceberg lettufe (a luxurious rarity at the time), the fork could be used for many other foods today. The reverse is marked with International's old hallmark.

Late Meiji - early Taisho (1890s - 1910s) Japanese Arita round porcelain kogo (covered box for incense during tea ceremony) with sometsuke (underglaze blue and white) decoration. Painted in underglaze blue in Shonsui style: initial Shonsui ware is Chinese blue and white porcelain imported to Japan starting in the reign of Tianqi Emperor (1621-1627). Starting from the 18th century Arita kilns have been producing their own items in Shonsui style...

Vintage Japanese wooden sago (tea scoop) carved in a shape of an eggplant. That kind of tea scoop is used for sencha - a type of Japanese green tea which is prepared by infusing the processed whole tea leaves in hot water. Cleverly and beautifully carved (see the stippling on the leaves by the stem) out of softwood, very pleasant to hold, in great condition. Length 4 7/8 inches.

Antique Chinese porcelain teapot of a Wanli style with reticulated copper lid with remnants of gilt and silver in a floral cluster. Origianl reticulated design with stunning detail. Sides adorned with a dragon and a phoenix in cobalt blue, with red, green, yellow, and brown enamel, bare buff foot.

Late Meiji (1900s) Japanese ceramic chawan (tea bowl) for tea ceremony decorated with what appears to be dumbbell shaped percussion instruments. Dark brown stoneware body, beautiful Satsuma type glaze with wonderful fine crackling, multicolored enamels with gold. Excellent free potting, wonderful sense of energy to the piece, great object in Japanese taste, in perfect condition. Stamped with a potter’s seal in unglazed area by the foot. Diameter 3 1/2 inches, height 3 1/2 inches.

Antique Chinese Canton plate with famille rose enamel scene of courtesans with their attendants, with a large altar to Budai. A gilt enamel censors and offerings lay before him on the altar table. The rim is decorated with chrysanthemums, and tiny scenes related to the main depiction. Mark of Kangxi in cobalt within a double ring, with three floral scrolling vine motifs. Ching Dynasty, dates from 1875-1908...

Late Meiji (1890s to 1912) Japanese ceramic Oribe ware chaire (tea caddy for storing powdered green tea used in tea ceremony) with two mock handles. Comes with very well made shifuku (silk brocade storage bag). Characteristic rich green glaze on the top, beautiful underglaze brown painting of fern sprigs on one side and plant shoots and brocade patterns on the other, wonderful finely crackled glaze...

Nice 6” plate in the “Horse Chestnut” pattern by Dedham Pottery. The crackling is very even and the blue has medium intensity. The back has both the ink stamp and the incised rabbit mark.

Origin: America, 1896-1928. Condition: a hairline visible on the back; a few small roughnesses along the edges from plate hangers. Size: 6” diameter.

A rare Seto Chawan with wonderful glaze made by one of the best potters of the early 20th century - the 1st Shuntei Kato (1885 - 1961). This tea bowl was made over 100 years ago and it comes with the originally signed wooden box of the artist.

His real name is Kanae KATO. He was born 1885 as the third son of Shunsen KATO.

In 1907 he established a branch family, named himself Shuntei and became the first generation...

Rare Gorham Art Nouveau sterling silver scoop-form serving bowl cast in the form of a large bonbonniere. The handle and bowl molded in relief with scrolling vines, berries, and ginko leaves. George V sterling silver covered urn. Made by Lionel Alfred Chrichton in London in 1916. Girdled urn with half strapwork on stepped domed foot; leaf-capped s-scroll sides handles. A poignant tribute to the lasting popularity of Edwardian Neoclassicism in the dark days of World War I. Fully marked. Very good condition.

Antique Japanese small ceramic teapot in the form of lotus leaves. Buff color clay with light brown glaze and glossy speckles. Leaves sculpted with naturalistic details. The spout is a folded leaf and a small round leaf functions as the thumb rest. The underside of the teapot is sculpted to match.

Chinese monochrome porcelain vase in a beautiful shade of red referred to as ox-blood. It has a fluted neck and a white crackle glaze on its bottom. 19th century Size: 17" height, 8" width

This is a late qing early republic era yenyen blue and white vase with the deer, crane and pine tree symbolizing longevity, status and prosperity, perfect condition without mark and only double ciurcle, trying to be in Kangxi style, so this is probably a revival kangxi piece of art.

Late Meiji to early Taisho (1910s) wooden netsuke of a bamboo shoot. Excellent realistic carving utilizing texture and natural growth lines of the material (ichii - Japanese yew wood) to represent the texture of the leaves. Wonderful sense of volume, very pleasant to hold. Cursively inscribed by himotoshi - may be a signature or a rendition of Japanese character TAKE (bamboo). Height 2.67 inches.

An unsigned Daum Nancy miniature creamer enamel decorated with fuchsia on a frosted ground. The creamer is 3 inches tall, 3 inches wide and 1 1/4 inch in depth. There is a polished pontil mark and there is no damage.

A Japanese woodblock print from Ukiyo fuzoku Yamato nishiki-e (Japanese colour prints in Ukiyo style). The portrait is by Kabukido Enkyo, active 1796, of the Kabuki actor Ichikawa Yaozo III as Umeomaru.

This print is from the celebrated set of reproductions of the best of ukiyo-e art published in 12 large vols. 240 woodblock-printed reproductions of famous ukiyo-e prints. 1914. The project was overseen by Hashiguchi Goyo, 1880-1921, who also provided text and cover designs. ...

This crystal dresser jar was produced in Belgium in the early 20th century. It is not signed but we believe it was made by Val St. Lambert. We have seen this pattern before. The jar measures 3 3/8 inches in diameter and 2 1/8 inches high. The crystal is hand blown and cut with panels and star bursts. The lid has floral decorations that are acid etched from green to clear. The workmanship is very fine and detailed. Condition: Excellent

Fascinating Taisho Period C.1920 tea ceremony bronze tripod incense censor. Almost art deco in design and feel. The Murashi-do bronze was dipped in hot oi at firing to create the mottled patinated colorings. The handles are elephant heads. The highlight of the piece is the very rare and exquisite square mouth and lid. The lid is adorned with a shishi lion which covers the hole the incense smoke wafts out of. Simply superb. To date we have never seen a square mouth incense koro. Ask for shipping...
