Republic or a little later, black and red lacquered “Dou” offering stem bowl (usually fruit) for an ancestral altar table, with gilt garden and scholar’s theme. This from Guangdong and made for a Chaozhou family, aka Teo Chew, aka Chiu Chow. W: 21cm/8.2in and H: 13cm/5.1 in. There is some warpage, noted in enlargements but if just turn it the right way you won’t notice.

An antique Japanese Yonezawa Isho Tansu made of Kuri (Chestnut) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. All original Urushi lacquer finish and hand forged iron hardware. Lock plates feature the family crest of the original owner with bronze outer circular frames. The handles are of the Warabite style. Five drawers with a security hinged door that hides 2 additional drawers.

A Korean, celadon glazed, brush washer with inlaid sanggam motifs of chrysanthemum, ruyi and scroll borders; Goryeo dynasty. C13-14th.
This brush washer is fully glazed, appearing an attractive blue colour where the glaze pools, and rested on three kiln supports during firing; the remnants of which may be found to the outer base.
