Small beehive-form pot is covered in a rich, lustrous copper-red glaze that drains to a pale celadon tone on one side. The interior is glazed white with the glaze crackles being highlighted by ink staining from long term use. The copper has drained from the mouth leaving the often seen attractive white ring. This is a dark slightly irridescent toffee-coloured glazed porcelain tripod censer of shallow compressed gobular vessel supported on three flatten bud feet. On the slightly everted mouth rim of the censer, it has a slightly tilted handle to the left and right. The tripod is designed after the popular Ming dynasty Xuande period style. A very large ceramic box in the shape of a peach that was used to decorate the ancestral altar. Such boxes were used to hold trinkets, precious offerings, and maybe incense when worshiping ones' ancestors. The inside of the box is divided and sealed with a green glaze. Wonderful 46 cm and 8,16 kg heavy Chinese bronze Guanyin Buddha from our Buddha collection, made in the 18th century.
