An antique Japanese Isho Tansu (kimono storage chest) made entirely of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original bronze hardware and Oxblood red Urushi lacquer finish. Drawer lock plates have an unusual stylized insect-like incised design with fine stimple work accents and handles in the Warabite style. True dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nails were used in the making of this chest.

Unusual 19th century netsuke of a cloth Daruma doll with wonderful inquisitive face and a shaped opening on the back with anabori (cavern carving) of a palace with a procession of scholars crossing a bridge and pavilions in the back. The cavern is carved unusually deep, and pavilions in the back are very well defined, almost impossible to photograph properly. Excellent face with horn inlaid convex eyes, beautiful stippling defining the texture of its cloth body, wonderful functional shape...
A slightly larger than average pumpkin form Yixing teapot, with nice used patina, probably made in China during the 18th or 19th Century. This item does not carry a maker's mark. Condition - very good - there are light (production) firing cracks to the body (see enlargements 5 and 8) and there is a chip and some small firing cracks to the inside of the cover; no other damages and no restoration...
This small bottle is very rare at small size celadon bottle.
It was fired with the oxidation condition, colored olive green.

Bowl with enameled decoration of bats and double Xi marks (symbolizing the happiness of marriage) in Doucai colours. Articulating lines in under-glaze blue, the centre with a peach. Shop mark in under-glaze blue to the base. Jiaqing, early 19th century. Diameter "2¾ / 7,2 cm, height "2/ 4,8 cm. Condition: a small glaze flake to the mouth rim.

An antique Japanese Imari porcelain figure of Okame, who is the female actress that is shown on traditional Japanese theater masks. She is sitting, clothed in a kimono covered with cherry blossoms and gold accents, and is holding a fan. Okame represents a wish for good fortune, happiness, and long life. She is also the goddess of mirth, and can make one happy just to look at her. This lady measures about 6 3/4" high x 5" wide, and she dates to the Meiji period, 1868-1912...
Ebisu sits on a rock, a bamboo stalk in the hand, as if holding a fishing rod, a giant red carp stuck under his arm. Daikoku stands on rice bales and holds his hammer in the hand. Around them a split daikon and the coat and hat of invisibility. On the lower right two seals: Kachutei Ninsei (or Jinsei). Ink and colors on paper (black outlines are hand painted, NOT printed). Painted area 11 ¾ x 18 1/8 inches...
Beautiful carved white jade figure depicting one of the 18 Lohan (arhats), sitting with arm resting on one knee, leaning against one shoulder is a gnarled staff with peaches and a bat on top, wonderfully detailed carving especially to the man's face and an earring that is carved to hang free, Republic Period.

Condition: very used; un-restored and un-repainted. There is much wear to the surface and edges and the decoration appears "faded". There is a very old replacement section of wood to the bottom left which appears to have been "cannibalised" from another old shield...
A good, large murashido patinated bronze vase. Raised geese and irises decoration including some katakiribori details. The bottom may have been reversed when reattaching it at some later time. From inside the vase can be seen on the bottom a 16 petal chrysanthemum overlaid by Kashiwa (oak leaf) mon and on a bed of same - all in relief...
Charming Antique Japanese box with large lid, lacquered red and black with mother of pearl inlay. Black lacquer mon of pine tree and writing in black, heavy iron hardware. Has original holes for tying top to bottom for travel. The inscription on both sides state the name of the confectioner. Trans: Confectioners Matsuzaka Asano Rokkado.
