Very unusual late Qing Dynasty (1890s to 1911) Chinese scholar’s rock in a form of a natural mineral cluster wonderfully resembling a prickly pine tree. The stone is many-sided, providing different complete views. Beautiful object with extraordinary rich textured surface, fixed in newer fitted hardwood stand. I believe the mineral to be aragonite. Wonderful object for contemplation on scholar’s desk, beautiful patina. Height with stand 5 1/8 inches.

A sample or Yuan blue and white large bowl, rounded side with everted rim and unglazed base, bowl decorated with under glaze blue of flower scroll motif at exterior, inner part with lotus flower motif. Condition see at the photo,no restorations. size: 16,5 cm diameter.

A small cast iron Japanese tetsubin of slightly flared cylindrical form, decorated in relief to one side with maple leaves floating on a stream against a textured ground. The backside is plain save for the textured ground and the foundry mark for Kinshudo. The cover is flat with a pine cone finial and the handle can be moved to either side. In excellent condition, it measures 2.5 inches high excluding the handle, diameter about 3" at widest. Dates late 19th Century.

A rare and unusual turquoise glazed, pottery gu form altar vase. Rare Japanese chirimen silk kimono with a jacquard weave, in gradating shades of blue, with Shibori designs of flowers and flowing water, lined in salmon pink silk with flowers. Shibori is a very labor intensive style of dying fabric in which small areas are tied and twisted to create dramatic patterns. Jacquard weaving is done on a special loom and results in complex patterns. Size: 67" H x 51" L

Namban chest in lacquer with inlayed mother-of-pearl in a floral pattern. The metalwork is in engraved copper.
