This very nicely carved 19th century lacquered wood netsuke in a clam form is 1 1/8” high, 1 ¾” from the widest part and 1 ½” in depth. It depicts two elders playing “go” in a building and the third person standing on a bridge outside the house. A tall pine tree is along side of the building. There are two hermit crabs and some sea weed painted on the top of shell. Aside from a few tiny scratches, it is in great condition.

A Japanese Hirado Mikawachi Ware water dropper in the form of a puppy. The white porcelain dog is decorated with brown and blue spots on its body and brown highlights on his eyes, ears, and tail. The underside of the puppy is incised to show the legs, feet, and belly hair, and it has not been glazed. The puppy measures about 2 3/4" long x 1 1/4" high, and dates to the mid 19th Century. A small, low, Chinese table that was used on the Kang for eating, reading, writing, etc. The table has been decorated on all sides and on the legs with fax bamboo carvings. The table is made of hongmu, a tropical hard wood, that was very popular in the 19th Century. The table measures about 29 1/2" long x 10 3/4" tall x 16" wide, and dates to the Quangxu Period (1875-1908)...

A tapered porcelain snuff bottle featuring a darling scene of 5 Chinese boys at play in which one child can be seen pulling an animal pull toy. Decorated in famille rose enamels the bottle comes with its original cap and bone spoon. The cap is green jade, and red glass the color of red coral. There are two opposing chips on the red section. Cannot tell if that was in the manufacture or not. The snuff bottle is in excellent condition, no cracks, no hairlines, no chips...

19th century tall walrus tusk netsuke of standing Gama sennin (Chinese sage) with his usual companion - magic frog - climbing onto his head. 19th century netsuke in kagamibuta (mirror lid) form. The top is solid silver with medium relief coiled dragon with fiercely open mouth and flames issuing from its body. Superb quality metalwork - see its face, claws and crisply incised differentiated scales, touches of differently colored enamels. Warm patina, beautiful bowl with stable old age line, swinging metal loop at the back for the cord. Very powerful piece. Diameter 1 13/16 inches.

Antique small Hirado ware figure of a boar. Made of porcelain and glazed white with great detail and charming expression. Hirado ware was first developed in the village of Mikawachi located in the area of Kyushu which was, along with neighboring islands, controlled by the Hirado daimyo. Initially Hirado ware was made exclusively for the daimyo's use. Later, Hirado ware found it's way west through Japan's trade with the Dutch East Indian Company...

Unusual 19th century netsuke in bean shape carved on the inside with a scene of a shishi family (2 adults and a cub) frolicking among flowering peony bushes. 19th century netsuke of a rooster on a drum. The subject symbolizes peace: according to a Chinese story, a drum was kept at the palace gate to alert soldiers in case of emergency, but during the reign of Emperor Yao the peace was maintained for so long, that the drum fell into disuse and became the favorite roost for local fowl. Chinese Jadeite Jade Clip, Ca. late 1800's, apple green and pale lavender color Jadeite hardstone with gilded Filigree Silver mount, impressed mark "Silver" "China" on the back. 2" x 1 1/4" wide, 1" high overall size, Crescent shape Jadeite stone is 1 1/2" x 1" wide, 3/8" thick, one side shows apple green natural colors, the other side is translucent pale lavender color on white translucent natural Jadeite. The condition is good and easily can wear as a Pin.

Bizen ware hexogonal vase with engravings of orchids on the side of the vase. The patina and color of the vase is very similar to those seen from the late Edo and early Meiji period. Interestingly, during this period elaborate decorations and moulding were created which was popular during this time. However, the vase does not contain the elaborate decorations and resembles more of tokoname wares emulating the Chinese yixing potteries. Age: Late Edo or early Meiji Period...

A very attracvtive and rare type of lock for a hatch or locking bar, likely Northern Italian, ca. 15th. century.

A square plate lock with some fine, strictly gothic renaissance carved and punched iron decoration.

Chinese elm wood square low table in a natural finish with two deep drawers each on two alternating sides. Brass hardware appears to be original. Late 19th century. 19 5/8"H x 31 3/4" square. There is an old narrow moon shaped burn on the top (see enlargement 3) and there are a few small separations in the wood on the top from shrinkage. This piece is from a Tucson collection and was purchased by expatriates to Taiwan in the 1980's.
