A beautiful stand mounted Japanese architectural (corbal) carving of ocean waves. One of this detail and design would have been built into the architecture of a temple. The carving is highly stylized with large openwork areas. The Keyaki (zelkova) woodgrain is visible on the reverse of the carving. Mounted on black iron plates.

A Fukagawa five 7/8 inch bread plate. Iris decoration from Chuji Fukagawa's own 19th century design book. Blue underglaze and red, yellow and gold overglaze enamel decoration. Mt Fuji mark in underglaze blue inside the foot ring. Late Meiji or early Taisho. Good condition. Priced for each bread plate, there were six available when listed. Chinese 19th Century Glazed Stoneware Shipwreck Jar
Many years ago we bought a small group of jars of this type. We were told they dated to the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279) and had been in storage, having several years earlier been recovered from a shipwreck off Thailand. To the base of each jar is written an inventory number (we were told around 200 of these jars were excavated but how accurate this is, we do not know)...

A Japanese studio porcelain okimono of Daruma (the legendary Chinese Buddhist monk Bodhidharma), dating to the first half of the 20th C. The long robe with thick celadon glaze, the face with fierce expression, the ears with movable earrings. Base with sealmark. Condition: fine, one ear with firing crack. Chinese Blackwood and Natural gray mottled Marble top round Stool/table, later part of 1800's, 17 1/2" high, 13 1/2" diameter on top, with carved low relief floral branches on the apron, with cross stretcher under the marble to strengthen the legs, also stretchers are connected to the curved legs, some joint separations in the wood, no nails were used, it is a very heavy solid piece of furniture.

Antique Chinese Five Dynasties/Northern Song ceramic bowl with a white glaze, incised ring in the inner center and a rolled rim. The underside of the bowl has glaze drips around the foot that resembles an eye. (age 907-1127 AD)

Cast bronze vase decorated with three handles in the form of masks of mythological creatures, carrying a trunk and large ears probably inspired by an elephant. The cast work is beautiful and the finish is neat. On the lower and upper edges, two very elegant Greek friezes are discreetly and finely incised in silver. The edge of the vase is slightly split, but you can still put water in it. A nice original patina confirms the age of the object, probably 19th century or earlier...

Blue-glazed porcelain carp fish, a Korean scholar’s water dropper. The carp was regarded as a symbol of endurance and never-ceasing ambition - a good example for a calligrapher. The two small holes let out the drops of water needed to make fluent ink out of the hard and dry inkstone surface. Joseon dynasty, probably late 19th century. Width "3/ 7.5 cm, height "1/ 2.7 cm. This jade carving depicts two dragons, seated back to back and is, as best I can tell, the real deal. Not only are there no signs whatsoever of modern tooling, but each of the holes at the snout has been drilled from both sides, using a conical bit. The jade itself does not lie 100% flat, which would be another "telltale" of modern production. Instead, it is slightly curved. The stone is a translucent light grey to almost clear color with the stems and leaves having light russet colors terminating in the leaves to an orange hue.
