An incredible monumental triangular architectural pediment, chua from Thailand. Carved of wood in high relief, the design is of scrolling peony vines entwining monkey figures. The anthropomorphized monkeys, dressed in clothing and with human hands, are suggestive of the Hindu deity, Hanuman. In keeping with the Hindu/Buddhist theme, makara heads emerge from the ends of the scrolling peony vines...

A beautiful rare blackwood cabinet with symbolic carvings of a bat for long life and prosperity and happiness and the pair of fish for abundance and wealth and harmony. The cabinet comes with the original stand that is missing the two drawers. It is very rare to find the cabinet with the original stand. The items inside the cabinet do not come with the cabinet. This is suoh of samurai's hitatare full dress in Edo-meiji period (upper part). The material is hemp of the handspun & natural indigo dye.Textile seems to be hand spun and woven, and has soft touch. Since this was used from the Edo to the Meiji period, there are many fading and small holes as shown in the image.This is the family crest of kikusui. A fine and early Bow porcelain Blanc de Chine thinly potted chocolate or coffee cup with raised prunus blossoms.

Excellent condition with no cracks, losses or restoration. Compared to the usual height of Bow coffee cups of this form and period, which is approximately 2 9/16", the example offered here is 5/8" taller, at 3 3/16". The bowl diameter is 3". A superb and rare piece.

A pair of antique Japanese folding keyaki doors with iron mounts. The door is constructed with mortise and tenon joints. The panels are divided into 7 parts framed with carved decoration and hinged with iron mounts. The carved decoration is finely painted with polychrome mineral pigment with gold gilt accents. The subject matter of the temple doors is a scrolling lotus motif and 8 phoenixes.
The phoenix represents power sent from the heavens to the Empress...

Pair American 19th Century Empire period Brass Andirons, Ca. 1820-1840's, 19 1/2" high, 18" deep, Brass front and Wrought Iron back for log holder, raised scroll base with double feet on each side. 19th Century English Brass large Fire Place Fender, Ca. 1830, 51" wide, 10" high, 13 1/2" deep, reticulated leaves, raised round pin wheel, supported by Lion's Paw Feet, nicely polished and ready to put in your home. One bump is noticeable in the photos, backside is reinforced with wrought iron frame.

A pair of nicely formed hollow glazed pottery birds. Both have round plump figures and lots of character. The darker bird has two glazes - a brown splash of glaze that runs over a straw glaze. The lighter bird has a celadon colored glaze. The glaze on both birds have a very fine crackle.

Period: Tang (7th-10th Century)

Circa 1850, hand painted blue and white Chinese porcelain stem dish with owner's mark. Very good antique condition. Some "flea bites" around the lip with a small chip on underside. Measures 2.25" high, 4" diameter.

Circa 1910, Japanese Satsuma covered jar raised on three legs with a foo lion finial on the lid. Heavily gilded on a blue ground fading to green on the bottom. Flower and butterfly motif. Signed on bottom. Measures 12.5 inches high.
