Fabulous celebratory Shinto Shrine gable carving Ca. 1850. Carved from keyaki wood, the sixteen petal chrysanthemum is the crest or mon (紋) of the Japanese emperor and is often seen displayed on Shinto shrines throughout the country. This chrysanthemum is framed by a 'Noshi" a celebratory wrapping for gifts. This carving must have been for a new shrine. Great condition. Length: 35";H: 12"; depth: 3". Mid 1800s
This vase, of a pale amethyst tone, was hand-blown with slightly fluted vertical segments from top to bottom. It is decorated in colored enamels that are lightly raised and enhanced by gold enamel, now somewhat worn. It is in good condition.

A very attractive Chinese stoneware jar with a wide ribbed body. Hand crafted with a dark celadon glaze, the inside which is brown is also glazed, can hold liquids, and can be used as a vase. In excellent original condition, no cracks, no hairlines. Circa 20th Century, it measures 8” high x 8.5” diameter, mouth measures 5" across.

A free painted transitional fruit bowl in very typical mid 17th century design. Under glaze blue and white porcelain showing a flower basket. Double blue rings at the rim. Condition: Very good condition. Normal glaze frittering at the rim. Sand connected to the foot ring. Nice clear tone when tapped. No cracks or ships.
