Attractive conical jar in fine hardburnt redish and darker pottery.

Size: 6,8 cm. tall and 9 cm. wide.

Condition: Very fine, a couple of small chips to rim nicely restored, intact with no cracks. Pencil number from older collection on the side.

Beautiful female head of a pillar figurine with sharply defined facial features. The elaborate hairdo is reminiscent of Egyptian wigs.
The woman shows beautiful almond-shaped eyes with neatly marked lids. The arched eyebrows span the entire forehead. The nose is gone, the lips are pressed to a gentle smile.
Elaborate style with much use of the modeling tool. Back side left raw.

A wonderful quality pottery Jug from Siegburg, Germany dating to the 16th. cent. AD.

A type called Trichterhalskrug in German, that often was made with an oval or round medallion at teh front. In this case the medallion is unusually crisp and elaborate for the type and depicts a coat of arms for a city or a wealthy House.

Unusual Jackwood paan (betel) tray with well carved Kandy style floral medallion in the center, this motif also emulates carvings on pillars in some ancient temple. The WHO advised the Sri Lankan government against the chewing of betel and it is now illegal- that is not to say that this really stops people from still doing it though. Very large and impressive brown-glazed Bartmannskrug or Bellarmine Jug, Raeren, Germany c. Late 17th.- early 18th century AD.

The jug with lovely warm brown glaze and a detailed bartmann on the neck and a small ring handle.

Late Meiji - early Taisho (1900-1920) wooden Japanese okimono of an actor wearing a voluminous robe and holding a scroll on one hand. Skillfully carved out of chosen matsu (Korean pine wood) in ittobori (one cut) style characteristic of Hida school of netsuke carvers with clever use of wood grain as element of design - in this case almost forming deliberate patterns on the robe. Wonderfully captured facial expression, very nice patina...

A fine cylinder seal of a very large and thick size for type and carved depiction, Mesopotamia, somewhere around 3000 BC.

Nice symethric style in high relief within concenthric borders. The seal looks to be inspired by the style of the Jemdet Nasr, but to us the carving looks like there's an Archer is shooting a bow against an animal and another animal behind, highly stylized.

SizE: 30 mm. tall and c. 18 mm. wide, so the seal delivers a very long imprint.
