This fireman's sashiko coat is the one in Edo period. (1850)
It is dragon's motif in the indigo dye cotton.
It is very impressive. There is damage in the collar. 82cm x122cm (32.1" x47.8")
sashiko hanten are the coats worn by firemen for protecting their bodies. Some have pictures,some are of all repeated patterns, and the others are unfigured indigo ones or ones with a medalion on the back.
It is a polychrome in the cotton ground that is black, is gray, blue, blue, white, beige, etc...

18th Century Japanese small antique scroll painting of a koi leaping up a waterfall. Beautifully painted with great expression, the fish leaps from the churning waters below. Painted in sumi ink on paper and mounted on lovely antique obi silk with a fan motif. Signed by the artist. 18th century (pvt. Collection purchased in Japan in early 1980's)

Small "ghau", the front side, made of bronze, is decorated with a foliage and lotus design, the box itself ans its lid being made of copper with bronze handles. The "ghau" contains a tiny bronze statue of Bodhisattava Manjusri and textile. Fine age patina. A leather cord allows attachement of the "ghau" to a belt. Tibet, 19th century. Very good condition.
Antique unique and old Korean Bandaji chest. Beautiful depth to wood and grain. Features two opening doors in each section that drops down to two large spaces for clothing or blankets. Four small drawers line the top of chest. Brass fixtures and loop handles compliment this piece.

Beautiful jasperware wall plaque of a winged warrior holding a sword entitled "Eroian", signed Stephan Finding, and dated 1886. The relief is quite high, and the details are exquisite.
