A Staffordshire plate stenciled, cut sponge decorated and hand painted with the three rabbits, the frog, the clouds and grasses stenciled in brown in the center of the plate within a blue line, surrounded by hand painted red flowers, green leaves and blue cut sponge flowers contained within a red line on the rim. Unusual Jackwood paan (betel) tray with well carved Kandy style floral medallion in the center, this motif also emulates carvings on pillars in some ancient temple. The WHO advised the Sri Lankan government against the chewing of betel and it is now illegal- that is not to say that this really stops people from still doing it though. Good bamboo handled knife with hand forged blade from the Karen ethnic group Northern Thai/Burma border. Total length 31cm/12in with good sharp edge- small nick at the tip off the blade which could be honed out, about 60 years old.

Good Cizhou type high fired, well balanced, ovoid soy glazed with russet highlights jar from a northern kiln, circa- Five Dynasties to Northern Song. There is a possible chip on the outer mouthrim (see enlargement)- difficult to tell if this happened after firing or before. There are remnants of kiln supports on the concave foot. H: 9.6cm/3.8in and D: 10.3cm/4in.

A rare antique Pre-Columbian Jama-Coaque 300 B.C. - 400 A.D. ceramic amulet in the form of a standing nude male figure with an erect phallus. These types of amulets were associated with the male sex's power and fertility. The object has a hole at the temple for suspension.

19th century Japanese raku ceramic box for use in tea ceremony potted and painted to represent yuzu citron with leaves. Could serve as chaire (tea caddy for powdered tea) or kogo (box for incense). Wonderful hand potting, excellent depiction of fruit skin texture. Stamped with RAKU character on the body by the foot. Comes with newer kiriwood box and wrapping cloth. Very pleasant feel of age, well-used, in great condition. Diameter 3 1/4 inches, height with cover 2 5/8 inches.

A pair of coffee cans, English, Staffordshire c 1810. Lavender blue and gilt with a vase and palmetto scroll motif. The edge of one can is slightly flaring and the lavender tone is a little lighter. Still, they are intended as a pair as proved by the gilders mark, which is the same on both cans, three plus one dot. Height "2 ½ / 6.5 cm. Condition: fine.
