The entire surface is enameled and painted very skillfully with designs based on Indo-Buddhist mythology. These wares were made of fine porcelain, probably in Jingdezhen, and were exported to the Kingdom of Siam (Thailand) where they were primarily used by the king and his court. The enamels are of a famille rose type, thickly applied, and in the case of this fairly large bowl, very well-painted in the Siamese taste...

A fine 17th/18th century bronze Buddha head with a nice verdegris patina and remains of gilding. H. 17,5 cm. Repair to the left ear (excavated piece). ex Dutch private collection, collected in Bangkok in the early 90’s.

Japanese antique choba tansu (merchant's chest) with kannon-biraki cabinet doors (opening outward on hinges). The doors open to reveal one interior shelf. These door panels as well as the safe box door are both removable. (The hinge pins are built into the door side of the lock and slot into the hinges on the tansu frame.) There are 6 drawers of various sizes. The safe box on the lower right hand side has two additional small interior drawers...

A rare enameled beaker made as a souvenir of the 1896 coronation of Imperial Russia’s last monarchs, Czar Nicholas II and Czarina Alexandra Feodorovna. One side of the beaker features the Imperial double-headed eagle and the reverse shows the Imperial cipher. The remainder of the body is decorated with traditional Russian strapwork. This Ming Longquan celadon vase is gorgeously incised with a profusion of flowers among rock-work, and looks wonderful against its antique French ormolu mounts...

French Napoleon III Burl Walnut with brass inlay complete with 15 cordial glasses and 4 French decanters each in etched glass with detachable mother of pearl collar tags for Rum Kirsch, and chartreuse measuring 11 inches deep 13 1/2 inches wide and 11 inches in height

Chinese Celadon Qingbai dish, with foliate edges and petal form walls framing the well. The center well is incised with a blossoming flower motif. The foot is slightly recessed and left unglazed in the center.

Southern Song dynasty (1127-1279) Dimensions: 5.5" x 1 1/8"

A silver form porcelain teapot with the vented knop on the lid and the pattern number, “N 195” in red enamel on the base. This pattern is known as the “knitting wool” pattern. 5 ¾ (14.6 cm) inches tall, 9 3/8 inches (23.8 cm) across the handle and spout.

Condition: excellent. A tiny rough spot on the lip of the spout might be a tiny glaze chip or it could be a very small firing loss.

I think this form is one of the most pleasing for late 18th century teapots.

18th century off-gray Chinese translucent jade plaque with pierced and carved abbreviated design of a dragon in flight, was used to be sawn onto clothes. Nice work, in good condition. Length 2.03 inches, weight 5.2 grams.

A pair of Japanese porcelain footed sake cups, the interiors with minuscule calligraphy of Waka poems, the exteriors with the “hundred poets” motif in Satsuma style against a background of gilt and red. Probably early 20th century, Kutani marks to base. Height "2/ 5.5 cm. Condition: fine.

Small altar ("zushi" in Japanese) made of wood, lacquered in black outside, gilt inside. The locking system as well as the hinges are made of beautifully decorated bronze. The altar contains a gilt wood statue of Buddha sitting cross-legged in meditation posture on an elevated throne backed by an aureola. Japan, 19th century. Total height: 8" (20,5 cm). Flaked lacquer at the base, otherwise very good condition.

This is an old and well done Japanese Satsuma box. The design has a wonderful contrast between the simplistic over glazed enamel water elements and the refined, highly detailed gold wheels. The inside is covered with a layer of gold. The box is not signed but we think it could have possibly come from the Makuzu Kozan studio because of its quality and uniqueness. Makuzu Kozan did some work in earthenware and came up with many wonderful designs. We also know that they were not all signed...
