Very rare Staffordshire pottery child's plate with an ABC rim surrounding a hand-colored transfer print of a railroad steam engine emerging from a tunnel. The plate is very colorful and is highly desirable because of the train decoration.

Origin: Staffordshire, England, ca 1895. Condition: very good, two very tight hairlines about 1" long, a couple of potting and painting flaws. Size: 7-1/2" diameter.

This is a late Qing period crystal snuff bottle. On the shoulder of the snuff bottle it is curved with the design of Ruyi and the body that of the petals of the lotus and at the base it is surrounded all round with the lappets of the lotus. A very nice and elegant as well as well curved crystal snuff bottle. Cir. late Qing 19th/20th century.

A Boxed Ivory Handled Fish Serving Set, with Silverplate Blade and Tines; by Francis Howard, Sheffield; c. 1890. Knife 11.5" and fork 9.0". Excellent condition.

This Tibetan gau (aka prayer box) is actually a small shrine. When not being worn as an ornament during festivals, it would be kept in the prayer niche of the family home. The back of the box slides open. Frequently, a special prayer i.e. sutra pages would be placed inside. The small glass window at the front displays a Tsa tsa, which is a clay statue of a Buddhist Deity. These statues were made only by the monks and considered to be a holy relic...

The title does not lie, this is one against which all others might be measured. A celebratory sake set consisting of three cups and a stand enclosed in their original lacquered wooden boxes. The cups are over the top, decorated with plum pine and bamboo in taka-maki-e gold over red replete with bits of kirigane gold and ke-uchi details. The cups are equally gorgeous on top and bottom, the design extending even inside the foot ring...

Antique Japanese scroll painting depicting a view of lush garden flowers. Large yellow and red poinsettia and cockscomb grow beside a bamboo fence. Painted in mineral colors on silk. Signed by 祥雲 Shо̄un ("Auspicious Cloud"). A label identifies the artist as as Nonouchi Yasutarо̄ (Nonouchi is the family name), who used the artist name Shо̄un until 1932. After that he used his original given name Yasutarо̄, but this one has the Shо̄un seal, so it should be from 1932 or earlier.)...

Longquan ware, Zhejiang with a nice rare Guan like crackled glaze. Song to Yuan Dynasties, thirteenth to fourteenth centuries. D : 5,5 cm. H : 4,3 cm. Nearly the same shape and size like the piece listed before ( # 230 ) - would be a nice pair and a nice addition to any Longquan collection. Condition : Perfect

DESCRIPTION: A large and delightful carved wood figure of one of the seven Japanese gods of good fortune, Daikoku, the deity of prosperity. Here he is seen in his traditional pose, standing on two bales of rice with his wish-granting mallet in his right hand, and a bag of riches slung over his left shoulder. Daikoku is also venerated as the deity of the kitchen where such carvings were traditionally displayed, sometimes in the ceiling rafters for good luck...

This porcelain ewer was produced in England by Royal Worcerster in 1885. The date letter in the marking indicates this year. It is model number 1048. The artist who painted this vase was Charles Baldwyn who worked at Worcester from 1880 to 1904. The ewer measures 7 ¼ inches high and has a diameter of 6 ¾ inches. The porcelain has a creamy, ivory hue. It is hand painted with a realistic jay bird sitting on a branch. The painting is done with flat paint, raised enamels and gold leaf...

19th C Meissen "Love Captive" porcelain hand painted figurine of Cupid putting a heart into a cage. In excellent condition, it is marked with cross swords in underglaze on the base. Measures about 4.5" high, 2.5" wide, 2.5" deep. Circa 1880. We also have "Love Crowned", see last photo.

Chinese Longquan celadon dish with lotus petal design at outer wall. Covered with very nice Bluish green glaze. Song dynasty. There is hairlines at the center. 21 cm diameter

This is Japanese antique noragi katazome indigo-dyed cotton noragi from the Meiji era.（1868－1911） There is a thin dirt, but is not outstanding. The cuffs have minor damage. It is a very beautiful indigo dyed cotton. Size:: Length 58cm (22.8") Back Width 62cm (24.4").

An elegant and beautiful lead Jacobite toasting glass engraved by "Engraver B" in Seddon's book. The drawn trumpet bowl has a 6 petal rose, an open rose bud to its left, and a closed rose bud to its right.

Over the years there have been various interpretations of these symbols, and even now it can be argued that the rose represents either the Crown of England or James, the Old Pretender...
