It has not been cleaned for a very long time, so the gilding appears orange under a layer of oxidation, smoke and dirt. Very unique translucent Spondylus shell human carving which is red/cream-colored found in the coastal area of Peru. 1 3/8" by 3/4". Collected in the 1950s by L. L. Dees. A very rare Jianyang temmoku wine jar of Song dynasty (11th to 12th century) that has the characteristic black body clay, traces of burial earth are left intact around the handle and mouth areas of the vase for authentication purposes. The typical thick black glaze with the aforementioned black body clay, clearly designates the origin about 230 km from Jingdezhen in the region of Jiangxi province. Condition is very good without any hairlines, chips, or repairs...

A Veracruz stone yoke circa 250-950 AD in characteristic U-form, the thick implement with polished surface except for the outside. A flat top, the sides tapering slightly downwards. The end of each arm is relief- carved with an ornate pattern of complementary bands and scrolling plumage-like motifs. Remains of a red pigment in a speckled grey-light green stone. An early Chinese Buddhist sculptural relic. Wood figure of "thousand armed" Avalokiteshvara. Originally with 18 arms, the figure retains only four arms. The surface, with remnants of lacquer and gilt, substantially distressed. Late Song or early Yuan dynasty. The base appears to be a tightly grained, dense and heavy hardwood with nice, undulating figure in the grain - likely zitan. Figure height (not including base), 8 5/8 inches.

A beautiful Tang dynasty changsa stoneware bowl with ruyi motive along the cavetto of the bowl and in the center with a dot with radiating lines towards the ruyi, all painted in green and iron brown colour. The 5 ruyi motives is design in such a way that no matter which angle you focus on, it is designed in a star formation. The changsa bowl stand on a short footrim with a recess base. The glaze stop about three quarter way down, exposing the light pinkish clay...

Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Buddhist Lotus Leaf Pottery Jar (Sanskrit)

This interesting pottery jar was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279), or possibly the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368) and has been been excavated from a Buddhist site in Yunnan province. It is made from a fairly high-fired pale grey pottery. Decoration is fairly simple with strips of clay applied to the upper body to form four lotus leaf panels...

An unearthed celadon Ewer pot was a rare example in Chinese early ceramic history especially for Chinese tea cultures.
A similar piece was found in an excavation site in Hunan Province and now is stored in Hunan Museum.

Rare Chinese Warring States Covered Pottery Stem Jar (475 - 221 BC)

This attractively-shaped pottery vessel with its flared foot and pear-shaped body was made during the Warring States period (475 - 221 BC). It is "heavily-potted", made from a fine-grained grey pottery and has a smooth burnished surface. Although not immediately obvious, the outer wall of the cover has been lightly decorated with thin lightly incised or polished bands.
