A very English copper bachelor button – a substitute for an ordinary sewn-on button - Victorian, for your cloak or jacket, works excellently. Punch sitting, feather pen in hand, looking at the latest issue of his magazine, dated November 1878, his watchful dog Toby by his side. Interestingly, a diamond patent mark is seen under the chair. Unusual, marked ”The Patent Safety Solitaire”. Diameter "1/ 2.5 cm.

Early 19th century iron Japanese sword tsuba for tanto with raised and inlaid decoration of a shojo dreamily looking at a huge pearl on a rock in front of it, a paddle with wet working end at the end of the rock. Shojo are mythical creatures living near the sea, who are particularly fond of sake. Excellent design, great quality inlays - see the silver inlay on the paddle indicating that it is wet, beautifully inlaid textile patterns, excellent patina. Height 2 1/4 inches.

Antique Japanese six-panel screen with a chirimen gold foil background and eight staggered painted panels across the entire screen, depicting various large groups of beautiful, long-haired women or performers in elaborate dress, images from tale of Genji. These extraordinary Sumida Gawa vases have a red ground with leaf-shaped moulding wrapped around the surface. Thick earthy-coloured flambe glaze cascades down from the rims and over branch-like double handles. The decoration is made up of 6 individual characters on each vase in humorous situations, monkeys on one vase and people on the other...

A large and very impressive tomb pottery horseman, Chinese, 1368-1644 AD. The type has been thoroughly tested and was burnt approx 500 years ago, placing it in the mid Ming period, c. early-mid 16th. century.

The pottery horseman, a higher-ranking officer, was probably originally equipped with a standard of wood, that has now decayed. He is clad in body armor in blue and torquise and wears a cone- shaped helmet...

With a Latin inscription translated as "Under a clear sky France suffers", this 18K Carnelian fob seal depicts an African slave in profile, carved atop a family crest, all shown above a ribbon banner reading "PURUM PATIENTIA FRANCE". Notwithstanding the word "France" in the inscription, our wax seal fob is English. The seal harkens back to the British abolitionist movement in France, during which time the British people actively sought to pressure the French to abolish slavery...
