This lovely Shino tea bowl fashioned from coarse Mino clay is covered in feldspar glazing, has a classic ferrous abstract painting across the front, and shows nice age—most likely from early to middle Edo.

Shino-ware dates to the Momoyama period when potters were attempting to recreate white porcelain-wares that were being imported from China at the time. Originally they were made in a single-chamber anagama style kilns set into the hillsides...

Chinese Export Famille Rose and Blue deep Saucer Dish, Mother and Children in the Courtyard playing, Ca. 18th Century, Qianlong Period, 4 5/8" diameter, 3/4" high, overglaze Famille Rose design of mother and children in the courtyard with dog in the center, incised white flowers and leaves wrapped by underglaze blue many small circle design of cartouches. Tiny bubble popped in the kiln during firing on the upper right side about smaller than 1/16" wide, other than that the condition is good.

Pair of early 19th century menuki - Japanese sword fittings - each depicting a pigeon in different attitude. Superb design, excellent casting and detailing - see the differentiated feathers of the birds, gilded highlights, beautiful patina. Comes with kiriwood box, fitted cushion with stretchy bands for holding menuki. Length 1 inch.

A circular form rising to a shallow point at the center, this jingasa is made of hide and cloth shaped in a mold, then finally black lacquered. It is decorated in front with a gold lacquered mon of an enzo which represents eternity. Mounted on a custom iron stand.
