This two piece porcelain bowl with underplate was produced in the United States by Pickard around 1910. The underplate has a diameter of 10 1/8 inches and the bowl is 8 1/8 inches in diameter and 3 1/8 inches high. There is a gold leaf covering the mark from the porcelain manufacturer with the Pickard mark on it. The set is octagonal shaped. It is hand painted with delicate pink roses and gilded flourishes. This very fine Nat known as "Ahmay (Mother) Shwe Na Bay" is a rare masterpiece of Burmese temple art. She protects fishermen and people working at Sea and on rivers. This late 19th C. or early 20th C. carved hard stone water bowl for painters or scholars is about 2 inches high, 5 ½ inches long and 4 ¾ inches wide. The water bowl is carved as a double plum blossom; a lucky bat, two smaller blossoms and leaf are on the side. The lucky bat and plum blossom represent bravery, strength and longevity in Chinese culture. The workmanship is simple and elegant. It is in excellent condition.

The decoration of a Dragon is at all rare to find on Ming Dynasty Minyao blue and white pieces. Still much rarer to find is such a Dragon bowl in a large and perfect condition like it is this bowl. Ming Jiajing period ( 1522 - 1566 ) Diameter : 17,9 cm. Condition : Perfect - there is just some very minute glaze fritting to the rim, but this is without a magnifying glass nearly invisible and absolutely normal for pieces of that period.
