Antique wooden lusong (mortar). This lusong was used with a lomok (pestal) by the B'laan people to pound rice in order to separate the grain from the husks. The B'laan people are indigenous of Southern Mindanao in the Philippines. This lusong is especially large and beautifully carved of a single piece of hardwood. Size: 24 1/2" high x 21 1/4" wide diameter.

A spectacular calligraphic work by E. Bambeck, signed and dated as part of the painting. Using pastels, watercolors, and pen and ink, he has limned a pair of very lifelike parakeets on white branches against a stark black background. The details and artistry that has gone into this work is truly of the highest order.

The condition is excellent, with no smudges, tears, toning or other problems. The bright white blobs in the center of some of the photos are reflections of lamps...

DESCRIPTION: A large and attractive Sumida Gawa tankard with a red ribbed body, graceful handle, and high relief figures of two children. A traditional flowing flambe' glaze in dark brown and beige coats the top third of the mouth and handle. Fine attention to detail has been paid to the handmade figures of children standing on ledges against the ribbed, cold painted body...

Beautiful double series opaque twist wine glass with a hammered round funnel bowl. 6.3" tall, 2 3/8" diameter bowl, 2 5/8" diameter foot

A 9.5" signed 19th century Satsuma bowl, possibly Razan. This is a beautifully enameled piece; over a ground of raised chrysanthemums are two painted panels, one of a bijin, the other of a mountain landscape.

Condition: Very good, there is one old hairline repair to the rim, illustrated in photograph five. No other issues.

A fine example of the rare Lowestoft porcelain "Mandarin Green Window" pattern made between 1768 and 1775.

The bowl and saucer are in very good condition, with the saucer having a small flaw, which appears to be in the making, at the edge at 11 o'clock. The bowl has no issues at all. Colors are much stronger than shown in the photos. The saucer is 5" in diameter, and the bowl is 1 3/4" in height.

A Georgian Silver Sweetmeat or Sugar Basket with a Swing Handle. Hallmarked in London, 1785, by Thomas Daniel. Of an Oval or Boat Shape, with a Beaded Rim, Handle and Base. A Repousse Floral Design. Dimensions; 8.6 Troy ounces; 7" x 4" x 7.5" high to handle. Excellent condition.

Ornate antique Bohemian garnet necklace with floral gem-set links and seven graduated pendant drops mounted and backed in gold filled metal. Circa 1850-1880. Length: 19 1/2 inches. Probably from the Czech Republic. Excellent original condition with working clasp. A wonderful example of Continental antique garnet jewelry.

Circa 1860, A gorgeous Napoleon style gold gilt bronze hand mirror with beveled glass. Carved in high relief is a tender scene of a young man teaching a maiden to play the flute. A sheep is in the foreground. The scene is surround by 3 bands of enameling: black, white, and deep blue with a gold foliate design. In excellent antique condition, it measures 11.75 inches long x 6.5" across.

A nice and finely potted famille rose covered teacup dated to the Tongzhi period. It has a scene of a garden with flowers, grass and butterlies flying. A red Tonzhi reign mark to the top of the cover and base of the teacup.

Generally in very good condition. Minor pinholes. No hairline, glaze fritting,crack, repair or restoration.

The dimension of the teacup is: the height with cover on is 8.1cm and the diameter is 10cm.

The sound box (Resonator) of the harp is made of wood and covered with snake skin, with one round opening on the anterior surface, and small holes for the strings.

There are no holes in the neck for the tuning pegs since the strings were fastened to the neck by the loops...

Antique 9K gold Victorian "message" ring, "Mizpah, symbolizing a bond between two people, comes from a bible quote in the book of Genesis, "The Lord watch between thee and me, when we are absent one from another". Mizpah is the Hebrew word for "Watchtower", a pillar of stones which symbolized the covenant between Jacob and Laban. Mizpah rings were often exchanged between two people in the hope of protecting the two during a period of separation, often by war.

Antique Tibetan bronze double vajra, an important symbol in Vajrayana Buddhism, Hinduism, and Tantra religions. The name vajra means both thunderbolt and diamond, as it is a symbol of brute strength and indestructibility. The double vajra mirrors the outline of a mandala; Its four points represent North, South, East, and West. Its center piece represents the center of the universe with lotus pods blooming outwards to extend the five pronged weapons...

This is a finely carved 19th Century Netsuke depicting SEIOBO, The Chinese Queen of the Fairies. Seiobo, is also known as Si Wang Mu. According to Taoist legends, she has a palace in the Konron Mountains, where she grows the tree of the genii, the fruit that ripens every three thousand years. The fruit of this tree confers the gift of immortality to the person who eats it...

Han Dynasty (200 B.C.~220 A.D.) dark green glazed bowl with cloud and crane design. Small chips on the rim. Outside there are three stacking marks from firing. Iridescent parts appear inside the bowl. It is in good condition. H: 3 ¼ inches, Diam: 6 ¾ inches

Superb Edo Period C.1860 bronze incense burner with silver repair on bottom. The incense burner rests on tripod legs with elephant head motif as well as two elephant handles with rings. The relief work on the rim is superb as well as the body relief. The best feature is the Edo Period repair with real silver on the bottom. Comes in original 'kiri' paulownia box. H:5" x Diameter: 9". 19th century netsuke of an octopus wearing a jacket and towering over a monkey seated on an abalone shell. Unusual subject - normally they are wrestling, but here it does not seem to be the case - the monkey is smiling. Superbly carved, excellent faces, wonderful detailing - see the coat of the monkey and abalone texture. Eyes of the octopus are inlaid with black horn. Beautiful wear and patina consistent with age, turning yellow on the back...

Iron metal rod. Painted with ink on paper. Signed Seiki and sealed. It is a type of weapon, a thick iron rod with warts on it. In pictures of demons, it refers to the stick that demons are holding in their hands. In Japan, there is a saying, "Kanabo for demons". If you equip a strong demon with a powerful weapon, a metal rod, it will become even stronger. This is a parable about someone who is already strong and becomes even more powerful by having something added to them...
