Here we present a tasteful kuro (black) Oribe kutsu chawan from the mid Edo period.

It has an interesting shape with fantastic black glaze and two different images on it. This bowl is unmarked, which was typical for tea bowls of this era.

We offer this tea bowl with a very good box (kiribako).

No cracks or repairs - except inborn kiln cracks...

A beautiful Chaffers coffee can decorated with Chinese figures. Grooved loop handle. 2 1/2 inches tall, 2 3/8 inch diameter.

Chinese Famille Rose Sugar Bowl and Cover. The petal moulded base and lid with applied Lotus stems, leaves and flowers. Decorated in bright enamels with flowering peony. Yongzheng C1730/40. Height 4 1/4" (10.8cm). Excellent condition, no frits, cracks or restoration. Old collection label attached with sealing wax to base.

Large Chinese Guanyin Temple statue made of Jade, with changing jade colours from light green to green, yellow, grey and black. This solid figure is seated on a double lotus flower, one hand holding the pearl and the other a vase.

The Guanyin is in great antique condition with very detailed carvings. Absolutely rare and one of a kind. It dates from the Mid Qing Period (circa late 18th. century)...

Mid 1700s

This lidded jar is painted with two lion dogs frolicking among peony flowers, all on an imperial yellow ground. The lid is similarly decorated with a single peony bloom. Both the interiors of the jar and lid are unglazed showing the fine white paste. The inset base is covered in a thin clear glaze with an incised double ring. The footring is unglazed and there is minor soiling to it and to the interior of the jar...

A fine and early Worcester patty pan, painted in underglaze blue with the "Bare Tree and Speared Bird" pattern, with trailing leaf sprays on the exterior and a painter's mark on the bottom. This pattern appears to only have been used on patty pans, and is also the only other pattern, aside from the full "Mansfield" pattern, that has a "Mansfield" pattern border.

More important is that the patty pan with this pattern, uncommon in itself, was made in two forms...

17th or 18th century Chinese wood Guan Yin (Goddess of Mercy) statue. One hand is holding a ¡°Bo¡± (alms bowl). Most of the lacquer has peeled off. Crack lines and small chips due to the age. Good condition. H: 27 ½ inches, W: 7 inches, D: 7 inches

Hand painted in dark underglaze blue with a serrated rim this large bowl is soft paste porcelain. The decoration of a Chinese arrangement of flowers and twining plants is typical of Tournai. Height 4.5 inches (11 cm) and 11 inches (28 cm) diameter. Late 18th century.

Condition: no chips, cracks or repairs. Some scratches to the interior of the bowl and small flaw in the body of the bowl.

This style of decoration was popular at the time and still looks excellent today.

There have been decorative textiles sewn into squares or rectangular shapes since the Edo period in Japan. The small squares are made for tea ceremonies; the medium to larger sized ones (called fukusa) are used to cover seasonal and ceremonial gifts. This old Chinese panel was acquired in Japan mixing into our fukusa collection.

A dragon and phoenix together symbolize the emperor and empress in China...

A rare and beautiful sweetmeat with a double ogee bowl with an everted rim. The bowl is atop a set of 3 merises, below which is an opalescent stem with a double series opaque twist (dsot) composed of a 17 ply spiral band around a lace twist. At the bottom of the stem is a nicely domed and folded foot.

The glass is in overall excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or restoration. There is a tiny 1/16" inclusion in the side of the bowl, not at all uncommon and truly of no importance...

Indonesian Minahasa Tribe ( South Sulawesi ) Belt Buckle ( 17th - 19th centuries or earlyer ) copper - brass alloy, decorated with holy birds at centre surrounded by plants and a fries with peanuts. L : 16 cm. It is one of a collection of alltogether 14 rare pieces to be sold now.

A Qing Blue White Censer. Diameter approximately 25 cm. There are 2(two) small chips on the rim, and some engraving marks on the base and the body. Good condition.

A rather striking Chinese derived pattern of Shou Lao and the Eight Immortals painted in a wucai, five colour, palette. The central mikomi painted with an amalgam of a Feiyu, Flying fish dragon, and a conventional dragon, rather than a true Feiyu, which would have had a pair of fins and fish tail rather than legs and conventional tail of this example. The border pattern is composed of auspicious cloud and sacred fungus motifs linked by a Karakusa arabesque...

Up for sale is an antique Chinese Qing Dynasty silk brocade panel, a pair of woven dragon with gold threads taken from the lower part of a dragon robe, early 18th century - Blue color silk satin ground, very fine. Overall in good condition. Minor loss to weaving. Measurements- 38" x 19"

A fine quality early eighteenth century dish decorated with a rather unusual Indian “sarasa” pattern with a Buddhist theme. The design is composed of flowers arranged in columns and rows. Inset within the sarasa ground are three lobed niche like reserves each containing a Dharma singing bird, emanations of the Amitabha Buddha, that reside in the Buddha’s Pure Land paradise...

Up for sale is a very rare antique Chinese Qing dynasty embroidered silk tapestry with 5-color clouds designated for imperial family use only, together with colored bats carrying auspicious Buddhist symbols; the cloud pattern suggested that it is dated back to the first half of 1700's., during the reign of the Chi'en Lung or Qian Long emperor, very intricate embroideries from high quality workmanship! It may have been used as a curtain or wall hanging back then...

A ribbed form bowl decorated in Gold Imari style with an elaborate ground of auspicious kikko-mon containing karahana linked by karakusa with green enamel Peach leaves arranged in the form of a crosses. Inset within the ground are four Peach shaped reserves containing Suisen, Japanese Narcissus, and Botan, Peonies.
