A fine and unusual brush rest in the shape of a dragon-fish or some similar mythological animal. Carved of what appears to be boxwood with a dark-reddish lacquer coating. On the bottom side an illegible signature in raised relief consisting of two Chinese characters. Qing, probably second half of 18th cent. L 15 cm. Condition: Fine all-over, but with wear due to age & handling.

A pair of silvered bronze tripods, Jue, an archaic type of vessel used for heating and serving wine, the shape originating from the early dynastic periods B C. These little elegant pair of Jue is from the early 19th century, made of silvered and engraved bronze or brass. Height "3½/ 9 cm. Offered is this exceptionally beautiful, hand-enameled in ruby flashing, glass pokal or covered jar. The jar is 11 inches (28 cm) tall and 4 1/4 inches (10,5 cm) wide and is in excellent condition. It has a 32-point star-cut base. There are a number of raised glass cabochons surrounding the body of the pokal. Antique Japanese tsuba (hand guard for a samurai sword), made all of iron and cast in the form of a daikon raddish. Chinese Song Dynasty black glazed Pottery Jar, 13th to 14th century, 3 1/2" high, 5" wide-widest part in the middle, 2 7/8" diameter-top rim, with dark brownish black glaze. The unglazed bottom section is rounded and smooth and has incised small marks and drawings-see photos. there are few frits on the bottom.
