A beautiful pair of Georgian multiple spiral air twist drinking glasses. The drawn trumpet bowls are finely engraved with a grape vine, leaves, and bunches of grapes. Conical feet with rough, snapped pontils.
Condition is excellent, with no chips, scratches, or restoration. The glasses stand perfectly straight, although it does not seem so in the photograph of the two of them together. Good color, striations, and tooling marks...
Antique Japanese light weight Jingasa (Samurai hat) made with a basketweave bamboo and paper coated in black and red lacquer. The front of the hat has the gilt paulownia leaf mon (family crest) with the top decorated with a three prong yari forming a trident.

This is one of the more intriguing lacquer objects we have owned. Adorned with maki-e Aoe (hollyhock) Ka-mon on nashiji ground (also known as the Kamo Aoi as it was sacred to the Kamo shrine), family crest for prominent daimyo families including the Tokugawa and the Matsudaira during the Momoyama and Edo periods. Even the drawer pull is fashioned as an open worked shibuichi Aoe Ka-mon with the surprise of a textured, kinko (soft metal) raised backing only if you look for it...
Late 19th century bone ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) carved as a toy dog (inu hariko) with a loop for hanging with gold, red and black lacquer decoration. Inu hariko are traditionally considered to be protective talismans for newborn babies. Very pleasant carving, beautiful warm patina, in great condition (some losses to lacquer). Height 9/16 inches.
19th century staghorn ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) carved in a shape of a ceramic sake jar with high shoulders and wide top, pierced and decorated with concentric circles . Clever elegant design in Japanese taste, beautiful staghorn texture, in great condition. Height 5/8 inches.

A very rare and characteristically glazed foo lioness with her left paw on the head of her baby. These usually come in pairs. One with the baby foo lion under the paw and one with a ball under the paw. This one has a lot of feeling with the baby foo lion looking annoyed with the paw pushing down on its head. There is always some humor with some of these statues. Size: H. 40cm. W. 35cm.
Condition: Some pieces missing from age and weather.
A beautiful English wine glass with a bell bowl. The stem contains a multiple-spiral air twist (MSAT) extending into the solid base of the bowl. What makes this a truly special glass is the applied medial vermicular collar. The foot is conical with a rough, snapped pontil.
The condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, blooming, or restoration. The marks and discolorations shown in the pictures are due to dust, reflected light, or photographic artifacts...

Nyonya bowl with maker's stamp.
Nyonya wares are over-glaze polychrome enamelled porcelains made in Jingdezhen in the Kiangsi province of China for the Straits Chinese, or Babas, whose female counterparts are called Nyonyas, hence the term Nyonya ware. Nyonya wares were mainly reserved for festive occasions and special functions. Size: W. 17cm. H. 6.5cm.
