Furoshiki (wrapping cloth) with tsutsugaki auspicious motifs of seven treasures (takara-zukushi), which is made of hand-woven cotton and vegetable indigo dye. Tsutsugaki is paste-resist-dye and colors are added with mostly pigments. Treasures are: sacred jems, cloves, a lucky mullet, a hiding hat, a coat, citruses and so on. It is made in Kyushu in Meiji period (1868～1912)　In good condition except for three mending patches and some tiny holes. 94cm x 124cm

This late 19th or early 20th century carved ivory netsuke is 2 ¼” long, 1 5/8” wide and half an inch thick. It depicts a fish which has an inlaid eye wrapped in a bamboo leaf. The workmanship is realistic and superb. The signature “Hokutai” is on the bottom. It is in excellent condition.

This is Egata used for the Taisho era period. As for this, a ramie spun by hand is used. This is drawn in Tsutsugaki. This is a natural indigo plant, and both sides are dyed. Egata dyed only by indigo dyeing in Okinawa dyeing and weaving is rare. This does not have stain damage at all. The state is good. Size 115cm x 115cm (45.2 "x 45.2")

Rice bag made of fragments of hand-spun cotton with stripes, checks and katazome (stencil-resist-dye), all vegetable indigo and brown dye. The cord is hemp. The square cloth in the bottom is fine and beautiful katazome with "two cranes facing" motif. Kome-bukuro was used when people dedicated rice to temples or shrines. In excellent condition except for a few holes and mending patches. The latter half of the 19th to early 20th century. W:57cm, H:28cm, Bottom:30cm x 28cm.

This very well carved early 20th century wood netsuke is 1 1/8” high, 1 7/8” long and 1” thick. It depicts two rams, one standing and one lying down. It is signed “Gyokuseki” and is in excellent condition.

One of the most unusual pieces I have ever seen from this innovative artist, an octopus shaped Koro by Suwa Sozan I enclosed in the original signed wooden box bearing the Teishitsu Gigei-in seal of the Imperial Art Academy. The bulbous top of the head is removable along a line as if the creature were wearing a hachimaki head band, revealing the incense chamber within. It is 26.5 cm (10-1/2 inches) tall, 19.5 cm (roughly 8 inches) diameter and in excellent condition.

Antique Japanese carved wooden figure of Shoki the Demon Queller, beautifully carved with billowing robe, covered in gold brocade obi fabric, this is an unusually exquisite version of the commonly smaller and plainer Kimekomi-ningyo. The movement of the drapery and intense facial expression with hand-painted eyes tell of the artistic skill used in the making of this doll. Beautiful antique Japanese Saki Ori vest made out of cotton reinforced with hemp stitching. Areas of indigo with red stitching have an effect to appear purple. This quilt is made out of an old Japanese nobori banner probably from the Meiji period (1868-1912). The upper part of the banner, where the family crest (Mon) is dyed, was used for the border and two figures were sewn together side by side. Antique Japanese kuruma tansu, or wheeled chest, made of solid Keyaki (elm) wood. This chest features a large iron Phoenix lock plate with beautiful flowing tail feathers on the topmost drawer, as well as the bottom wheeled area. Themes of chrysanthemums, peonies, lotuses, and kiri leaves are incised into the decorative iron plating, with side locking box for small valuables.
