An antique Japanese Kotansu (personal storage chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. It is comprised of 5 drawers and a pair of sliding doors that hides a compartment where small books and literature was stored. All original bronze hardware. Makes a perfect side chest or nightstand.

Japanese Taisho Period ikebana basket (for flower arranging). Made all of lovely split bamboo with a semi open weave. The handle is made of three pieces of bamboo and knotted together. Wrapped detailed where the handle meets the body of the basket. Signed Kokosai.

Antique Chinese Sturdy Rosewood stool with Burl hardwood inserts. Stool is a deep, dark wood with nice detail in carving. Very heavy, and in good condition.

This early 20th century Chinese carved wood statue is 5" tall, 6 1/8" wide and 3 1/4" in depth. The statue presents the legendary Chinese character Liu Hai. This character is an eternally young boy who is always accompanied by a three legged toad. The statue presents a smiling Liu Hai seated comfortably on a rock with a whisk and straw hat on his back and the three legged toad resting on his right foot. Aside from a minor repair on his left toe, it is in great condition.
Japanese antique 4 section butsudan (Buddhist shrine for household use). The exterior is lacquered all black with double cabinet doors to the shrine area. The interior of the butsudan is lacquered gold and black and has ornate carved details of phoenixes and a dragon just below the shrine roof area. Details of birds and waves are carved in the area below. The interior shrine compartment has a slide out tray as well as a small compartment with gold lacquer sliding panels...
An elaborate Japanese coral, silver, and gilt kanzashi (hair pin) formed as a peony spray with butterfly shaped pendants hanging from silver chains. The body is made out of stronger mixed metal, Meiji/Taisho period. Kanzashi 8" long, chains 3 1/4" long.
Antique Chinese hardwood desk made from attractive Jumu (Elm) wood with the original finish. The traditional construction is solid wood with one drawer with a brass ring pull. Simple in design with a beautiful grain.

luggage tag made by the Webster Company at the turn of the century consisting of a detailed valise shape, engraved 120 S. CAROL BLVD UPPER DARBY, PA., monogram E.T.T., maker's mark and Sterling on the front, measures1 7/8"L x 1 5/8" W including handle, Excellent condition.
Introduced to Japan through the Portuguese in 1543. Intended for use by mounted samurai, these pistols where called horsemen cannon's (Bajo zutsu).
They proved however to be totally impractical weapons to fire, since the rider had to ignite a piece of chord to the lock, while aiming the chamber and at the same time controlling his moving horse. None the less, owning a pistol remained a symbol of a samurai family's power, rank, and wealth...

This vase is covered overall in brushed slip (hakeme) with three registers of incised horizontal lines from which issue simple flame-like patterns. The brushed slip decoration extends into the flaring mouth and down to the footring. The foot is completely obscured by adhering fused sand from the firing. There are a couple of unintended copper red dots from the glaze. The condition is very good, having no chips cracks or repairs.
