A handsome three-piece gilt bronze desk set by Marshall Field comprising a letter rack, pen wipe and pen tray. Each piece is decorated with intertwined stylized dragons against a ribbed background with a beaded border. The workmanship is very fine. Marshall Field was an active producer of very high-quality metalwares during the Arts & Crafts period. The bottom of the letter rack is marked “Made by Marshall Field & Co. 2 29”. The bottom of the pen tray is marked “MF & Co VIKING”...

A fine pair of 18th century English wine glasses in a unusual deep bluish-green color, each with an ovoid bowl over a conical foot with a polished pontil. Each is 5" tall, with a bowl diameter of 2 3/8" and a foot diameter of 2 5/8". Excellent condition with no chips, polishing, or other restoration.

19th century Japanese bronze mae-kanagu (tobacco pouch clasp fitting) depicting a barrel maker working on a large barrel. Wonderful design with dynamic posture, superb crisp detailing, comes with original backing. Signed RYUMIN on a gilded strip hanging off a nearby tree. A nicely carved jade pendant in the shape of a bamboo surrounded by leaves in two colors. Bamboo is a Chinese symbol for longevity because of its durability, strength, flexibility and resilience. It survives in the harshest conditions. Size: H. 6 cm. W. 4.2 cm. Condition: No repairs.

Antique Japanese oribe ware chawan (tea cup). Buff color stoneware with reddish brown translucent glaze. Two areas of thick white crackle glaze with black brushwork motifs give this cup it's traditional oribe appearance. Satisfying weight and shape. Lovely drips and depth. With tomobako.

A Chinese parcel gilt bronze incense-burner and cover modelled as an immortal on a mule, late Ming dynasty. 23 cms.

A very nice blue and white vase from Kangxi period, Qing Dynasty. There is a kiln crack inside the foot rim, and a few small chips on the foot rim and the top rim; The neck of the vase was professionally restored - it is basically not noticeable from outside of the vase, but one can feel the joint with his finger inside the vase. sold as is. Height: 8".

A wonderful exemplar of an Italian voided velvet textile, done in a deep red. Similar examples are shown in "European Textiles in the Keir Collection 400BC to 1800AD".

The overall condition is excellent, and the sight size is 21 3/4" by 8 1/2".

A superb pair of true Arts and Crafts stoneware pottery matched ewers in a rich chocolate brown colour, c1880-1900. The upper shoulders or these 7-5/8" ewers or pitchers are in a glossy glaze, and the lower body has a naturalistic matte glaze over a stippled style textured surface topped with a decorative linked band of semicircles. The glaze didn't quite flow to cover the interiors of the hand made spouts and the bottoms are unglazed...

 

Probably 1800s, possibly earlier

This finely cast figure, seated in vajrasana or lotus position on a double lotus base, holds in the left hand a stem of lotus with the right middle finger touching the thumb. The flowing robe is open at the chest and drapes over the right shoulder. The borders and lower portions of the robe are incised with scrolling floral motifs. The facial features with slight downcast eyes are crisply rendered and the hair is well-defined...

Late 19th century Chinese Canton enamel footed shallow dish painted in polychrome enamels with 2 different stands holding various archaic bronze vessels with leaves and flowers, and bamboo tubes tied with a knot - one of the Emblems of the Eight Immortals. Cavetto with painted flowers on yellow background, outside is enameled light green. Beautifully painted, few faint lines of crazing, overall in great condition. Wonderful item for a scholar’s desk. Length 4 1/2 inches.

This Japanese walrus tusk carving of a young maiden is a late-19th century or early 20th century product. It is 7 ¼” high (8 7/8” high with wood base) and 2 ¾” wide. It depicts a young maiden holding a long necked vase in one hand and a long stemmed flower in her other hand. There is a tall stand beside her with an incense burner. The statue is permanently mounted on the carved wood base. It is in great condition.
