Fukagawa 4 1/2 inch diameter fruit or sauce plate (could be used for dessert or hors d'oeuvre.) Iris decoration from Chuji Fukagawa's own 19th century design book. Blue underglaze and red, yellow and gold overglaze enamel decoration. Mt. Fuji mark in underglaze blue inside the foot ring. A beautiful stand mounted Japanese architectural (corbal) carving of ocean waves. One of this detail and design would have been built into the architecture of a temple. The carving is highly stylized with large openwork areas. The Keyaki (zelkova) woodgrain is visible on the reverse of the carving. Mounted on black iron plates.

Tibetan seated figure likely that of arhat Ajita, one of the 16 arhats. He is identified by two corresponding features; his hands which are resting in his lap in dhyanamudra (the gesture of mediation) and his covered head. His face is handsome (due to an accumulation of virtue) and his gaze is tranquil. Made of gilt copper repousse and with silver repousse over laid details. He sits on a lotus base and his facial features are painted.

Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Qingbai Glazed Porcelain Covered Jar

This attractive small covered jar was made during the 13th / 14th Century (Song / Yuan Dynasty). It is coated inside and out in a pale Qingbai type of glaze that is very finely-crackled. The colour of the glaze varies a little, appearing slightly paler to the cover and inner surface of the jar. The cover has a carved pattern to give it the appearance of a tiled roof; this jar represents a granary.
