Kobako in dark brown lacquer. In imitation of bamboo, the inner part is made of bamboo and the outer part of the box is made of kaki wood. It represents the cross section of a bamboo cane node with its light brown diaphragm slightly bulging in the center of the lid and stand. Well crafted Persian silver bowl featuring floral design at the center and followed by a circular band of very fine and slightly raised calligraphy and finally a band of geometric design, bearing artist's initial and 90 fine silver mark to the base, from late 19th/early 20th century period. A wonderful patina lacquered Japanese black power container. Consisting of lacquered washi paper wooven tightly onto a natural gourd. The woven basketry work is detailed with the original attached stopper and copper lined interior neck.

Each plate has the design of a single chrysanthemum (kiku) shifted towards the left side of the plate … but they were carved in a way that each has a life of its own. None of them look the same. The design is sharply cut into thick layers of black urushi lacquer – tsuikoku. Antique Chinese large monochrome porcelain vase, glazed in black with reddish brown undertones seen more prominently towards the lip of the rim, slightly ribbed body with a single ridge in the very center of the neck. 18th century Size: 21.5" H x 9" W

The outside of this elegantly understated container is simply semitransparent red lacquer over cloth in the Tame-nuri style opening to reveal an interior glowing with large patches of applied gold and silver. It is 20.5 cm (8 inches) square, 10 cm (4 inches) tall and in overall excellent condition, with minor marks from use on the bottom. Inside the box is contained a number of papers as well as a receipt from the late Meiji period, circa 1910.

Amazing antique Chinese porcelain dish. Beautifully formed, glazed with a rich monochrome turquoise color. Standing on four small unglazed feet. Intricately decorated with tiny drum-like rivets around the outer edge and on the inside with raised stylized 5-bat motif around a central prosperity symbol. The underside has an incised 6 character Qianlong zhuanzhu mark (1735-1796) or later.
