A six panel screen with mineral colors, and gold leaf clouds meandering though out scenes depicting a view from the Tale of Genji. The chapter that would be closely associated to the screen is Chapter 19, Usugumo, translated as Wisp of Clouds. The scene is showing Prince Genji wearing a white informal court robe, lined with red and is selecting robes for the visit of Lady Akashi.

Wonderful Antique Japanese Imari two-piece flower arranger, Meiji Period c 1868-1912; the bowl with looped and reticulated border of interlocking rings, the interior decorated with blue, orange and beige fish and lilies, auspicious symbols of longevity and good fortune. The underside marked with a lucky symbol. The bowl is in good condition, some flaking on the perforated cover. No restoration or chips. The dish measures 12" diameter x 2 3/4" high.
A bronze brazier, also known as a hibachi. The workmanship of the brazier is intricate with one side showing a motif of Chinese stye lions mingling among peonies and the other, geese flying over reeds in a marsh. Museum quality Edo Period C.1860 zen temple mizubachi. Lost wax cast with a great dragon spout in grand detail and spectacular shishi mythical lion ornament on the top of the lid. The diaper motif on the base is in raised relief and equally spectacular. The spigot on the dragon head is permanent so we are assuming that there was a constant water flow. Very slight indentation on one of the hanging jewels but so slight you can only see at the right angle. H:51cm x W: 43cm. Ask for shipping quote.

This Japanese lidded cloisonne pot is referred to as Totai Cloisonne. The base material of the cloisonne decoration is ceramic and not the usual metal. Various cloisons which are adhered to the ceramic surface are filled with a variety of coloured enamel as is the case with cloisonne on metal. The pot is in good condition with an overall floral decoration. The internal lip of the lid has a small flake.

Animal horns carved and shaped this way were used by herders and farmers to give a sick animal liquid medicine. This yak horn was bought in China but was probably made used the Tibetans. This very nice carved hard stone brush rest is a mid or late 19th century product. It is 6” long, 2 3/8” high and 1 ¼” thick. It depicts a reclining ewe facing her young kid; both of them are holding a branch of LingZhi (靈芝) in their mouths. It is very well carved and designed. It is in great condition.

This carved wood box is lacquered in a deep red tone and in brownish black on the leafy area. The interior and base are lacquered in black. There are various nicks and scuffs from use and age.
