Rare Small Blue and White Tureen and Cover. Well decorated with a design taken from a European Botanical Engraving. Chinese Qianlong C1770/80. Height 5" (12.6cm) Length across handles 7" (17.7cm) Condition: glaze crack around base of pine cone knop. Glaze flake to one handle 0.6cm.
This is an ancient Egyptian Scarab, c. 1800 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 5/8” long (16 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

An attractive hammered silver bowl, with an scetchy incised animal in the center of the interior and multible concenthric lines around. It looks like a simple bird, but it needs more cleaning to be certain!

A camel on an ornate oval base nicely sculptured with fine detail. The camel is a domestic animal in places like Egypt and Saudi Arabia, but wild in many areas. This napkin ring was probably made by Rogers, Smith and Co., number 269. NOTE: THIS CAMEL HAS THE END OF ITS TAIL, often missing, STILL IN TACT.

This region of Mongolia had quite a number of Yellow Hat Sect Tibetan temples, but most were sadly destroyed when it became the world's second communist country in 1924.Therefore difficult to find such nice specimens. Circa English 1870, a rare faux burl walnut book slide featuring a pair of gilt brass gothic revival style mounts enclosing an oval Sevres hand painted porcelain plaque of a woman. The faux painted burl wood and is quite exceptional in detail, depth and richness of color. Note: one brad missing in a lower right corner (see 2nd photo). In very good antique condition, it measures 6.25 inches high, 5.75” deep, and 13” long. Extends up to 22.5” long.
A lovely and good quality one of Ming dynasty 16th century blue and white saucer dish, decorated with a bird on tree branch within double circle, and encircled with diaper pattern around the rim sides, underside is plain with the square mark to the base. Condition is very good without any chip, no crack and free from restoration, except slight warped. Diameter: 13.5cm.
Maginficent, antique basket from the Naxi/Nakhi ethnic group in Yunnan province. I purchased this in 2001 at local market in Lijiang (now a UNESCO heritage site). Constructed of bamboo with much of lacquer intact, this piece is circa 50 to 80 years old, most interesting is an auspicious coin symbol woven into the top. This kind of thing always reminds of the labor intensiveness that is put in to decorating such a humble object...
A very rare sample of Yuan dynasty blue and white stem cup with phoenix anhua motif, rounded side with out turned rim and high foot, stem cup decorated with under glaze blue of tree friends of winter motif at exterior, inner rim with tree motif and inner wall with anhua phoenix motif beneath white glaze, center with flower spray motif, stem cup excavated from Trowulan east java.

19th century Japanese tsuishu (cinnabar lacquer) netsuke, the front with a scene of a scholar reading a book by a low table under a pine tree with a view of a distant mountain. The back is carved with a scholar walking in a garden among trees and flowers. Both scenes have finely carved various brocade patterned backgrounds. Two parts fit snugly by joining and twisting them, metal fitting inside the front part with tied himotoshi cord. Superb crisp carving, in excellent condition...
This is an extremely heavy, awesome, bronze age harpoon from Northern India dating to circa 1500 BC. This magnificent piece weighs 996 grams and measures roughly 304mm in length. It has a fantastic patina and no signs of damage or repair. I am listing four of these harpoons this week and this is the heaviest of the bunch. Don't miss out on this incredible find.
