Each Immortal is seated holding their individual attributes, and is surrounded by auspicious elements such as lotus pods, peaches, mushrooms, and flowers. Used for ceremonial purposes by the Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties. Traditionally, the jue vessel was made of bronze with a pouring spout on either end and a pair of capped posts rising from the rim. This piece, although in the shape of a jue, is done in fine, powdery-blue celadon and is described on the tomobako as being a jue-shaped incense burner (korou).

Antique Japanese jingasa, a special protective hat worn by samurai. It is covered in a special lacquer called "tatake nuri" and is decorated with a star shaped like blades, and delicate carvings around the finial. The mayority of Longquan Guan type dishes do have the common Longquan paste, which we do know from the ordinary Longquan Celadon pieces. This Guan type dish is so rare, because it has an dark grey body which has turned reddish-brown where exposed in the firing. This bowl is covered overall in an attractive bluish green celadon glaze except for the footring, which shows the buff-toned porcelaneous stoneware body. The glaze is somewhat unevenly applied to the exterior. The interior has a glaze bubble that popped in the firing. Acquired in the early 1980s from an antiques dealer in Alexandria, VA.

Antique Japanese bronze yatate, a pipe shaped container for the carrying of cotton saturated with calligraphy ink with a long shaft for a brush. The main component is cylindrical in shape with an inner compartment and an outer decorative area with scrolling vines and flowers. The lid has a kiri leaf design. The brush shaft has a fu dog towards the top and scrolling vines with kiri leaves running down towards the end, where it stands on an elephant's head...

Antique Korean porcelain bottle vase of a stout teardrop form with short, fluted neck. The glaze is a translucent beige white with a slight hint of blue, with natural crackling throughout. 18th/19th century. Size: 9" height, 6" width

This is a excellently carved Japanese Netsuke depicting a group of 10 rats gathered on top of turtle. Outstanding symmetry and detailed piece; very life-like. Signed on an oval reserve, Akihisa, a carver that worked in the 19th century in Japan. Netsuke measures 1.65 inches (4.2cm) wide, and 0.96 inches (2.4cm) tall.

This is really an exquisite piece of Japanese Satsuma. It is signed by Seikozan who was one of the finest satsuma artists. The pot is not overly large being 6 inches tall and 6 1/2 across including the spout/handle. The Condition is fabulous. This is a great piece of Satsuma especially at this price.
