This piece was made at the kiln in Henan pottery area. It is very popular to be called as "Henan tenmoku" which has black glaze with patterns of rusty glaze. The pattern tends to peel off because of overglaze, however this piece has patten clearly remained. Terracotta head of Harpocrates wearing the double crown of Egypt flanked by lotus buds.
The expertly modeled face shows almond-shaped eyes with sharply defined eyelids, a broad nose, and fleshy lips. The head is bald except for small tufts of hair and the side lock of a child.
Harpokrates, the infant son of Isis and Horus, symbolized both youth and fertility. Harpokrates was revered as the patron deity of childhood.

A stunning Japanese two-section choba tansu (merchant's chest), made from solid Keyaki (elm) wood, originating from the Mikuni region. The upper section holds a roomy, shelved interior with two bold Keyaki grain sliding door panels. The bottom section holds a long top drawer, with elongated lock plate typical to Mikuni tansu. Below are two small drawers with iron Warabite handles, with old labels in Japanese on the fronts, and a smaller set of sliding Keyaki panel doors...

Late Meiji (1900s) netsuke of a bamboo shoot. Excellent realistic carving capturing the essence of the object. Wonderful sense of volume, very pleasant to hold. Length 2.34 inches.

Wall vase in cast bronze, representing a dragon coiled on itself, its meandering body delimiting the contours of the vase. The casting must have been complicated and several holes and gaps appeared which were filled with welded bronze plates as can be seen in the detail photos. At the back a finely crafted ring allows the suspension. Most likely Japanese work...

A cute dog Fushimi doll. The dog has an interesting collar possibly in the form of a fabric collar, often seen with domesticated animals portrayed in Japanese paintings. Fushimi dolls were created as dolls made for pilgrims visiting the Fushimi Inari Shrine. Age: Meiji-Taisho Period Size: length 9.25" Width 3" Height 9"

A rare example of large bowl for research and study, decorated outside with incised of fruits pattern in turquoise glaze, inside with sacrificial red ground incised to the centre with charming peach pattern. Da Ming Xuan De Nien Zhe within double circle and of the period. Condition broken into 9 pieces then re-glued without no any missing. Diameter: 31 cm and Height: 12 cm.

Found in the Philippines. These identical jars feature a translucent green Qingbai-type glaze that pools on its carved lines. Its moulded structural form is covered by a roof tiled lid. Porcelain vase. Decor of dragons chasing the sacred pearl, painted in underglaze cobalt blue. The ground is covered with an ochre-greenish enamel. Vietnamese work from the 19th century or before? The vase is very broken as shown in the photos. The broken neck has been replaced by a silver neck on which a stopper has been placed. Height: 24cm.

A lovely Chinese pierced and engraved footed dish by Wang Hing & Co. Decorated with a with a chrysanthemum and leaf motif, it is in excellent condition. Measures 3.5" high by 4.5" diameter. Hallmarked on bottom. Circa 1890
