A set of archaic stone carvings were rarely found in pairs.

Antique Sino-Tibetan gilt bronze statue of the deity Kubera, lord of wealth and protector over the world. He is typically shown holding a bag of jewels or fruit in one of his hands and a mongoose in the other. The mongoose symbolizes Kubera's victory over the Naga, or snake people, who watch over large hoards of treasures. The mongoose is also said to spit out jewels every time it opens its mouth. The statue is sculpted incredibly well, with natural patina and traces of pigments...
Black lacquer box decorated with butterflies and flowers in red, green and yellow lacquer. Detail in powdered gold lacquer and kirikane (small gold square.) Curiously there are only 2 elements in yellow lacquer, a butterfly and a flower. No signature.

Antiquq Persian Afshar style rug hand knotted from wool.The Afshar were a preeminent nomad tribe who crafted high quality rugs. The two stepped medallions in the center is one of their typical designs. It measures 6'5" by 4'4".
Antique Japanese tobacco pouch and matching pipe case, each carved with an octopus. The pipe case is made all of boxwood and holds a tobacco pipe made of bamboo with silver and mixed metal fittings. The matching tobacco pouch is carved of kiri wood in the form of a fisherman's basket with a lid made of of boxwood and carved in the form of another octopus. Both practical and whimsical.

Chinese antique yuhuchunping, pear shaped porcelain vase with a short foot and slender neck flaring at the rim. Decorated with a copper-red underglaze scene of a four-clawed dragon amid swirling clouds. The inside of the rim is decorated with a classic scroll motif. The area just above the foot of the vase is encircle with a band of trefoils.

An exceptional and rare Italian cut and voided velvet panel, probably Genovese, done in a dark green on a beige foundation. The motif features mythological animals and urns, all surrounded by foliate scrolls.
The condition is quite fine, even for a textile 250 years younger. The length is 64 1/2", with a width of 10 1/2".
A superb piece for display or use as an accent, and should appeal to collectors and decorators.
Adorable very well excuted Japanese hardwood carving of a frog seated on top of a leaf. He is wonderfully detailed with allover chisel marks due to the hand-carved nature. Hand carved with the upmost attention to detail. The underside is signed. (Translation coming Soon).

A whimsical boxwood carving of a fisherman with look of shock on his face as an octopus crawls out of his basket and onto his head and shoulders. The extreme care and detail of this piece along with the amusing expressions make it especially wonderful. Signed by "Kogetsu".
