A Sizeable Sterling Silver Fish Knife and Fork by Bigelow Brothers and Kennard, Boston Silversmith and Retailer. This mark was used from 1845-1863, but the firm existed in one form or another from 1830-1922. The pieces are marked 925, rather than sterling, as this time was the transition between the usage of coin and sterling, without the term sterling being initially used. Antique Tibetan silver incense burner in three pieces. Created as a smaller version of a kapala (skull cup) ritual vessel for Buddhist ceremonies. The censor seats into a triangular base covered with designs of swirling mist and Sanskrit symbols. The lid is similarly decorated and has a vajra finial.

Antique Chinese porcelain brush washer in the form of an opening lotus blossom. On one side is a pair of bats and on the other lingzhi mushrooms. Delicately carved and glazed white with brown, orange and gold over painting. Very subtle purple and green high lights on the tips of the lotus petals. Sits on a hardwood stand intricately carved with more bats and lingzhi. Daoguang Period (1821-1850)

This fine Staffordshire copper luster pitcher is decorated with a blue band of enamel, creating a very clean, simple design, accented with beading around the border and rim of the pitcher. The fancy serpentine and strap handles give it grace. The warmth of the copper makes it an attractive accessory to a bookshelf or cabinet.

Rare Japanese bar tansu from the Mikuni region, made with Hinoki (cypress) wood front panels and Sugi (cedar) wood top and sides. Heavy in weight, with structural bars along the back and sides, all original deep red lacquer finish, the front locking bar with highly ornate iron display of auspicious motifs and turtle shaped lock pin.

A hard to find purple transferware pitcher with central vignettes of farm life and genre scenes. The top and inside of pitcher have foliate decoration. The single piece handle is attached. Condition is very good with minor crazing and possible exterior crack for which we have shown 2 pictures. Very moderate age discoloration most noticeably on handle.

English Spode Blue Transfer deep plate, late 19th century, 9 3/4" diameter, 1 1/2" high, with Italian pattern inside fluted rim and two(2) figures attending cows, imprinted mark "Spode 54" "Spode" in underglaze blue, the condition is good.

Small shrine, or zushi, in a folkish style. In a simple, square case sits Buddha Shakyamuni with a round object in his hands, possibly a jewel or an alms bowl, carved in soap stone. Shaka sits on a low pedestal. On the inside of the left door a paper label with the inscription … no shaka sonzo (Figure of the … Buddha). Height case 7 inches; height figure 3 ¼ inches. Some traces of usage to the case. Figure in good condition...

Large Victorian Classical sterling silver tray. Made by Dominick & Haff in New York in 1890. Rectangular with curved corners. Fluted sides and gadrooned rim. Stylistically restrained with nice heft. Fully marked including dated maker’s stamp, retailer’s stamp (JE Caldwell), and no. 772S. Very good condition.
