A rare jade archer,s ring, which to me is the actual archers ring used with the bow and arrow rather then the better know thumb ring which is more a piece of jewelry. It was used on the thumb, that's where the "thumb ring" comes from and more than likely on a gloved hand due to the size. See the last three photos of a similar one in a Chinese jade book. Japanese bronze vase with fine, inlay cranes in silver and copper. The vase form has a short mouth and dramatic tapered body to the platform foot. The reverse side of the vase has a commemorative inscription and the base with artist's cartouche.

Meiji Period (1868-1912)

Japanese large, rectangular suiban, finely cast with stylized motifs of waves and flying birds in relief. Suiban are shallow trays meant to be filled with suiseki or viewing stones, sand, and bonsai. The rim of the suiban are flared with a cast apron of reishi mushrooms. The 4 feet of the dish are in the form of rolling waves. The underside is textured with artist signature and cartouche.

Meiji Period (1868-1912)

Japanese iron tea kettle, or tetsubin, all hand-cast iron with landscape scenes of oceanside cottages around the body. The handle is inlaid with two silver birds and held into place by a pair of iron chimera on each end. The bronze lid is signed underneath, and the backside of the iron body has a 4 character artist's cartouche.

DESCRIPTION: An antique French wine pitcher crafted like a barrel from staves of wood bound by five hand wrought iron hoops. The top hoop forms the neck and spout, the handle is iron wrapped wood. An original natural pigment pottery figure of a standing court lady wearing a short-sleeved tunic over a robe with long sleeves. Her interesting looped hairdo is parted into two bunches that rest atop the sides of her head. The figure has most of the original pigments, some of which have worn off over the years.Very difficult to find one that has not been restored. Period: Tang (618 - 907 AD) Size: Height = 22.5 cm, Width at base = 7.5 cm. Condition: All original. No repairs.

Large antique 19th C terracotta sculpture in the Italian Renaissance style of a beautiful woman. All original with no repairs or touch-ups, rarely do you find one of these pieces with the paint and gold gilt intact. This piece has just been lightly dusted with a soft brush for the past 25 years. A decorators dream, she measures a little over 18" high x 15" wide at the base. Circa 1880.
