This is an old and well done Japanese Satsuma box. The design has a wonderful contrast between the simplistic over glazed enamel water elements and the refined, highly detailed gold wheels. The inside is covered with a layer of gold. The box is not signed but we think it could have possibly come from the Makuzu Kozan studio because of its quality and uniqueness. This porcelain bowl was produced in Germany by KPM Royal Berlin before 1920. The bowl measures 9 inches in diameter and is 2 1/2 inches high. The rim of the bowl is reticulated with tiny ribbons accenting the design. There is a flowing rhythm in the design that has an art nouveau feel. This is a wonderful set of Japanese bridal kanzashi (hair ornaments) from the Meiji to Taisho period, late 1800s to early 1900s, made out of tortoise shells. This is a carved portrait of Christ in gem quality emerald from Colombia. It has been specific gravity tested. It originated from the Chivor mining area in Colombia which produced higher grade specimens than the Muzo or Coscuez areas.
