A lovely eastern Anatolian stamp seal of a rectangular gable form, Eastern Anatolia, 4th. mill. BC.

The seal carved with animal on the base probably birds flying?.

Size: 41 mm. wide and 21 mm. tall, 7 mm. thick.

Condition: Nice VF, slight wear but attractive and with a sharp imprint.

A triangular stamp seal with handle, Western Mesopotamia, c. 3rd. millenium BC.

Very large for type and with an interesting two colour stone where the upperside is calsified white and the base is in the original brown stone. The seal is engraved with a reclining animal on it's base.

Size: 29 x 29 mm. 18 mm. tall.

Condition: Very fine, intact and very attractive, with much even wear.

A very unusual and attractive, larger stamp seal, round and conical, the back with a large high relief cross, North Mesopotamia or Syria, c. 4th. millenium BC.

Carved in a black stone and the face of the seal, engraved with crossed line design.

A wonderful quality carnelien and agate cylinder seal, Neo-Assyrian, 9th.-7th. cent. BC.

Marvelous core Assyrian style depicting an offer scene: A manheaded and winged horse / winged Kentaur is bending it's knee to the great King or perhaps Sin the moon god, below the winged sun-disc emblem of Ashur. He is holding the beast, while another deity comes running swinging a sword. An attendant behind.

Height: 23 mm., diameter 12 mm...

Interesting stamp seal with winged animal in a lovely dark green stone, dome shaped, Anatolia/Mesopotamian local style, probably around early 1st. mill. BC.

Finely carved and polished. Described as Hittite c. 1600 BC, in the collection, we think it's somewhat later due to the shape which reminds of the Neo-Assyrian style of the 1st. mill...

Very attractive seal of a massive size carved with architecture (temple facade) and bull, 6 small globules. See similar BM Inv. 102416, Collon, First Impressions Kat. 28., dated to the early Jemdet Nasr period.

A finely carved cylinder seal in black stone engraved with a scene of worshippers or deities making offers, Neo-Assyrian, c. 9th.-8th. century BC.

Very detailed carving with shows the deities on either side of the tree of life and a vessel on a small stair or table, perhaps an alter. Crescent and star above.

A rare elongated irregular form of stamp seal not quite rectangular, possibly in family with the earliest foot-shaped seals, that we know from Mesopotamia. Arched handle, pierced for supension. A Attractive early seal in a substantial size.

An unusually nice stamp seal in tranlucent agate, depicting a Ruler, between the symbols of the Sun and Moon, Sasanian, 3rd.-5th. century AD:

Accomplished portrait and scarce, the picture of the imprint does not do the seal real justice.

Size: c. 10 mm.

Condition: VF, intact with some minor chips to the edges.

This seal comes with a hard impression and COA.

Gustav Oberländer specialized in early stamp seals from the pre-historic and Dynastic civilizations in the Near East / Mesopotamia, Anatolia and Bactrian.

Marple stone stamp seal, Anatolian / Levantine, late 2nd. mill. BC.

The seal of a pyramidal form, pierced through in the top and engraved on the face with the image of a Stagg or antilope with large horns within a frame.

Size: ca. 14 mm. tall

Condition: Choice and intact.

Ex. German Collection (Berlin), collected from the 1980s and onwards. Comes with collectors own notes and photos mounted on filt with a hard wax impression.

Interesting and unclassified blackstone button stamp seal, carved with cross and pellets, c. 4th. millenium BC.

Probably Mesopotamian or from ancient near east, carved in quite high relief in a nice jet-black stone.

Condition: Near fine, the seal has a fine and intact imprint, with an ancient loss / damage to the upperside of the seal over the loop, which is also intact.
