A faïence vase by Cantagalli with silverluster and blue decoration in the Hispano-Moresque or Ottoman style, c 1880-90. Ulysse Cantagalli, Florence, drew his inspiration from Arts and Crafts designers like William de Morgan, from Italian Renaissance and Islamic ceramics. A Minton wild strawberries A2625 hand painted berry or fruit bowl dated 1866. This Victorian beauty measures 9-3/8" across and it features finely handpainted leaves, flowers and wild strawberries all in high relief. This bowl is similar to other antique Minton patterns however we haven't definitively identified it. A pretty leaf shaped serving dish by Royal Copenhagen. Panted decoration of flowers, the twig handle with a rose and a forget-me-not flower in relief – the same as the handles used in the famous Flora Danica service. Impressed mark 2 and S, and the three waves of the manufacture in the version used around 1890. Length "7 1/5 / 18.5 cm. Condition: damage to the petals of the little forget-me-not flower.

A small Bilston patch box, enamel on copper, mid-18th century, in a design somewhere between Rococo and Louis XVI: the outer shape softly rounded, the pattern more strict, of diaper type, textile-like. Patches, often in black silk, were used to conceal scars or blemishes from smallpox or other diseases. At the time Bilston, a town in West Midlands was famous for their enamel boxes. An interesting 18th century pewter plate, the border with an engraved motto, Suum cuique, written on a ribbon above an open book resting on a diagonally striped bar. As presented on this plate this is the crest and motto for the Scottish Clan Don. It is a Latin phrase meaning “to everybody his/her own”, historically used in freemasonry and in legal contexts, like serving as motto for the faculty of law at universities...

This is a very small antique German chocolate mold. Father Christmas stands just 4 inches high and is 2 1/4 inches wide. The clips are original. Very nice detail. The manufacturer and the number 990 are stamped on the inside.
An attractive Victorian period china jardiniere, c1880s. It has a repeating somewhat Art Nouveau floral motif, the flowers look a bit like poppies or anemones, all in blue transferware with occasional splashes of gold. It measures 5-3/4" in height and the opening measures just over 5" across (opening only, does not include the wavy rim). Although it is unmarked, which happened more frequently before 1891, it is almost certainly English in origin...
Art Nouveau or Jugendstil silver plated and footed pewter bowl by Kayser, Germany, c 1910. The design is a wreath of cherries, divided into three compartments. Early stamped mark Kayser. The Kayser or Kayserzinn factory in Krefeld produced pewter items of high artistic value in the decades around 1900. Diameter "6¾/ 17,5 cm and height "2/ 5 cm. Condition: fine.
A high quality Arita porcelain dish decorated with an auspicious pattern composed of a central motif made up of three shippo or cash symbols bound together by a stylised Peony leaf vine; a variant of the more usual ribbon tied cash see EW3193. The cavetto decorated with a Tako-karakusa ground and the rim with a diaper band.
The reverse is meticulously painted with a band of stylised lotus pattern to the base of the footrim...
A pair of Staffordshire waste or slop bowls, c 1820. To one side transfer printed in black with an English mansion in classic style, in the foreground a lake and to gentlemen fishers, to the other side a lady and a small girl in a garden (traces of the same motif to the inside of the bowls). Height "3½/ 8,5 cm and diameter "6/ 15 cm. Condition: wear to the decoration and a hairline to one bowl.
This is a lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, 1200 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 5/8” long (16 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

A lovely and unusual Victorian sterling silver jelly knife in Towle’s 1880 “No. 128” pattern. Also known as “No. 28”, this pattern is characterized by a twisted handle, accented with beautiful bright-cut engraving. The serving end is shaped in the form of a leaf and is matte-gilt to highlight the floral engraving. Originally intended to serve savory jellies, the piece could now be used for pastries. The back is hallmarked by Towle and has the pattern number.

Alt Wien / Old Vienna dish or plate – originally a stand for a vase or small tureen – with sparse decoration of stylized little tulips within a dark red border. The modern-looking design is a deceiver: the shape of the Royal Vienna Porcelain factory underglaze blue shield mark on the base shows a production date in the Empire period around 1800. Diameter "9 ½ / 24 cm. Condition: two small spots of glaze wear to the center, from the foot rim of vase or tureen.
Lovely Chinese basket most likely woven by the Zhuang or another of the many ethnic minorities in Guangxi Zhuang, China where I bought this over 20 years ago. This woven from split reed stalks and has a nice soft feel to it. This piece is quite old, 50 to 100 years (best guess). It has an unusual trapezoidal/oval shape and I like it for its sturdy simplicity. Minor unraveling of some of the weaves here and there but in very good condition given it age.
