An antique Japanese Isho Biraki Tansu (clothes storage chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original bronze and iron hardware. Beautiful hardwood trim outlining the Tansu front. A pair of hinged doors secure 4 removable Kimono trays behind. 3 large drawers below provide added storage for clothes and textiles. Constructed using straight dovetail joinery and hardened wooden nails.

A wine glass with a large flared bell bowl with a solid base. The stem is of the multiple spiral air twist (MSAT) type, above a conical foot. 6 7/8 inches tall, bowl diameter 3 inches, foot diameter 2 7/8 inches. Perfect condition and the discrepancy between the bowl and foot diameters is due to the large flare of the bowl.

Hard to find: Large antique Kyo-yaki Suiseiji Mizutori Suichu (also called "mizutsugi").It is a Japanese ewer, an utensil used in the sado and sencha tea ceremony to replenish the jar that holds water for rinsing teabowls and filling the iron kettle at the tea ceremony.

This is truly a museum worthy piece from the great satsuma artist, Seikozan. It is probably our all time favorite example from this artist. This vase is the mate to another one we sold. Likely months of work went into this vase and it's literally smothered with intricate enamels and gold work. The vase stands 9 1/2 inches tall. This vase appears to be nearly perfect but it has had a rim chip repair.

A wonderful guaranteed authentic silver mounted snuff bottle in celadon porcelain, dating to Quan Zhi, 1720-1750 AD.

The bottle elegant scrolls under a finely transperant celadon glaze. Silver stopper with jade, contemporary and correct.

Size: ca. 66 mm. tall.

Condition: Choice and perfect, thus rare from this early period.

Beautiful and unusual chest from China with a very interesting, highly figured hardwood with warm brownish tones. The chest is one solid piece with four drawers running along its top front and two sets of hinged doors on its bottom, with brass hinges and lockplates. Unusual 17th / early 18th century small votive Indian bronze sculpture of a standing female attendant of a deity, her hands in front of her, and must have contained an object (missing). Beautiful casting and detailing, great patina with subtle green encrustation on the surface, wonderfully worn attesting to its great age. Height 2.3 inches.

Description: Fine antique Persian copper bowl, late Quajar period, a band of engraved Persian poem from poet Hafez fallowed by geometrical design. On the base a horse in sitting position with a bird with open wings on the horse's back. This type of bowls was carried by people so every individual had his own bowl and was used for drinking water or wine. Measurements: 1 inches high and 3 3/8 inches in diameter in good condition. For a similar example, see Christie's, April 24, 1990.

An antique silver box with hinged lid standing on four ball feet and a small silver tray decorated with cloves on four legs. Both items unmarked. A silver washer was nicely in floral shape and was decorated on the side with motifs of bamboo troves.
The beautiful pattern was well rendered by excellant chiselling and engraving workmanship.
Nice and darken patina was yielded when some old restorations were found in portions.

This amethyst ring is a striking example of gold-work decoration that became popular in the second decade of the 19th century. A type of filigree work known as "cannetile" and named for the gold embroideries of the Napoleonic years, cannetile work made the most of a small amount of gold and required highly skilled goldsmiths. The amethyst stone is particularly eye-catching. The combination of the cannetile work next to the amethyst makes this an extraordinary ring. The ring is a US size 6.

Late 19th century Korean silver coffee spoon with recessed enamel yin/yang symbol surrounded by 4 trigrams from I Ching, the whole design representing the Korean flag. Excellent crisp work, in very good condition, hallmarked in Korean on the stem. Length 5 inches.
