Massive Japanese Imari Charger with a Samurai motif. Edo period measuring 24.5 inch diameter with incredible color

Large framed Chinese painting on silk ground, of two white herons crouching beneath lotuses and reeds, as a small hummingbird flies into frame from the top lefthand side. The painting is displayed within a bamboo style gilt hardwood edge frame.

A large and imposing bronze image of the Songzi Niangniang (‘The Lady who Brings Children’), a primary Daoist deity. Fine expression and details. Covered with a dark brown patina all-over. Ming dynasty, most probably Wanli period (1573–1619), a time when it is known that large number of Daoist images were made. ****H 38 cm. ****Condition: Generally very fine. Minor remains of cold gilt and colouring. One tip of a finger broken off.

Exceptional example of a very old Japanese bronze. This type of lacquered bronze of the best quality is extremely rare. We only know a handful. Bust of Buddha out of cast bronze. The head is full and the rest of the bust is very thick, almost 1 cm in some places, so the object is very heavy. The casting and the finish are beautiful. The mouth is inlaid with a reddish yellow metal that has not oxidized over time, probably gold, I could check and test the metal on request. The eyes were probably also inlaid because there are 2 deep incised line that are now filled with traces of white color...

Antique Chinese tassels from the 18th centur, Sino-TIbetan. The tassels are inlaid gilt and lacquered iron with red horse hair, probably used as ornaments on a horse for the saddle. The decoration has fret key bands and an endless knot pattern. The tassles are displayed in a plastic case. The top of the tassle measures 4" long(10.2 cm).

French Belle Epoque 950 silver tureen, ca 1910. Tapering oval curvilinear bowl on same raised foot with gadrooned rims. Leaf-mounted double c-scroll end handles. Raised cover. Restrained turn-of-the-century Classicism enlivened with a cast still life finial: A couple bird carcasses draped on top of a sweet bunny, with forelegs raised as if to hop away, and hindlegs limp and splayed now that hopping is no longer an option...

Nine prong bronze bell and matching nine prong bronze vajra (diamond / thunderbolt) with carrying case of patchwork cloth. Used together for spiritual ceremonies. Beautifully rendered design with ritual wear. Bell has dorje design on outer rim, with lotus design on inner bell and a bronze clapper. Nice ringing note when sounded.

Stunning Inro on a gold nashiji background decorated in aokin, takamaki-e, kirigane and takazogan inlaid with mixed metals of a man standing on the roof of a thatched cottage and a young boy carrying a fruit basket looking towards the man . A two-part antler manju beautifully matching the inro is intricately decorated with coral ojime signed Jiyosai. H 9,8 cm.

Japanese Edo Period Musha Ningyo (Boys Day) Dolls, Samurai Set. Ningyo this early almost never appear for sale, much less with accessories, as we have here with this very fine quality pair. They have finely carved faces, and are lacquered with many coats of gofun (white oyster shell pigment). They are adorned with sumptuous silk brocades and silk armor, indicative of Edo Period Ningyo artistry. Tallest Ningyo: 19 inches (48.25cm).

A Samuel Gilbody of Liverpool porcelain small mug or coffee can with a flattened round loop handle and a flat unglazed base. Painted in famille rose colors with stylized peonies and a prunus bough issuing from a jardiniere. There are sacred Chinese scrolls and a larger peony spray to the right. The interior of the rim has a diaper border with prunus blossoms.

Antique Chinese scroll of a rooster with peonies. The rooster is painted naturalistically with white feathers and a grey/blue face with pink peonies in the background. There is a wax seal on a tag, threaded through the scroll. Seal says "Shen Shi " (named Nanpin). Attributed to Shen Quan (Shen Nanpin). It measures overall 19.75" wide by 76" tall, 16" by 52.5".

An interesting, rare and unusual, Buddhist Dehua image of a meditating Luohan in a cave overgrown with branches, his hands holding a begging bowl. This is a well-known motif of the Ming dynasty. Done with very fine details demonstrating a high level of craftsmanship. Hollow modeled. Signed with seal on the back: He Chaozong. Late Qing to early Republican Period, ca. 1900–1930. H 16 cm. A gorgeous Japanese framed silk hand-embroidered fukusa (gift-wrapping or tea ceremony cover), with the image of Jurojin, one of the Seven Lucky Gods. He holds his attributes, a staff and a fan.
