Circa 1870s-90s Japanese Hirado porcelain vase with a globular body raised on a short footrim and rising to a slender, knopped neck with everted mouth and galleried rim. Decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with a falcon perched on the bole of a gnarled pine tree, a band of lappets around the foot, and the rim with a continuous key-fret border, it is in excellent condition. Netsuke in fine-grained wood representing a toad. The sculpture is powerful, the animal is very well represented, the movements of the body and the volumes are perfect. The eyes are encrusted with a very beautiful blond horn striped with brown for the most beautiful effect. Signature of the artist below. I haven't researched the name, but I can do it on request. Edo period. Himotoshi 2 holes. Good condition, excellent patina. No restaure. Usual wear for a century-old wood. Length about 6cm.

Hand-sashiko is a hand-spun, moderately soft cotton cloth dyed with high-quality indigo dye. The good color of natural indigo dyeing and the stabbed with soft hand-spun cotton cloth make a beautiful change with moderate effort. It is the tranquility used by wealthy farmers in the Shonai region during the Edo period. This modified natural indigo dyeing has something in common with the dark blue comfort of Van Gogh's painting The Night Café...

A richly enameled and well modeled Kannon seated upon a purple scrolled tailed beast of green. Measuring 10" in height and 10" in length, the figure is well preserved. There is a chip to the right foot of the Kannon and three enamel flakes to the hair. No cracks or repairs.

Late Meiji (1890s - 1910s) Japanese bamboo wrist rest used by painters and calligraphers, with low relief carving of a blooming camellia branch. One narrow side edge is tapered, so it can be used as a tea scoop as well. Beautiful subtle piece, superb quality carving, warm patina, in excellent condition. Wonderful object for a scholar’s desk. Size 4 3/8 x 1 15/16 inches.

Fine Tibetan "damaru" (ritual drum), made of silver and leather. The silver part is in the form of two "kapala shaped" parts, separated by a central silver belt, decorated with several turquoise and coral inserts, to which the handle is attached. This silver part is lavishly decorated with an embossed relief design representing foliage and Buddhist symbols. The leather part is painted in green. Two cotton cords, ending in two small balls are also attached to the drum to strike it...

This piece was made at the kiln in Henan pottery area. It is very popular to be called as "Henan tenmoku" which has black glaze with patterns of rusty glaze. The pattern tends to peel off because of overglaze, however this piece has patten clearly remained. A ribbed cylindrical celadon censer.The censer stands on the unglazed base though it does have three vestigial feet.In fine condition with no cracks or restoration.There is a very small and shallow chip to the glaze on rim.size 9 cm diameter, 4,5cm hight.
