Antique Chinese cloisonne clock, made of bronze and inset all over with beautiful cloisonne, oval shape base and top, stands on 6 feet, surrounded with 10 cloisonne columns (5 on each side), original glass doors on front and back, clock face painted with tiny flower garlands, glass door in back reveals pendulum and mechanism which still seems to function smoothly, c. 1900. A fine and interesting bronze sculpture of a lady selling fish. The figure is holding a basket of fish with a humorous looking octopus wanting to jump out of the basket. Often during the Meiji period, figures from daily life such as sellers of various produce and products were created for the Euro-American market where the charm and simplicity appealed to collectors. Antique Japanese Shō, mouth organ (flute) used in Gagaku (classical performances traditionally for the imperial court). A musician blows through the silver lined protruding mouthpiece. The air travels through the bamboo tubes creating notes (said to sound like the Ho bird or phoenix). Skillful musicians are able to blow air in and out of the mouth pieces creating sustained, uninterrupted notes.

Antique Thai gilt cast bronze figure of a recumbent temple deer. These sika deer are closely associated with the Buddha because of his "Teaching in the Deer Park" in Sarnath. Buddha's teaching, or "Spinning the Wheel of the Law" further links the deer to this sacred event. Thus deer are often depicted with the Wheel of the Law, or Dharmachakra in a temple setting. Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this outstanding and well-wrapped ancient Egyptian mummy. This mummy features fine wrapping with an outer shroud surrounding the ibis within. This is in the style found in similar offerings to the god Thoth and dates to the Ptolemaic period, ca. 350 B.C.. This is a rare mummy and is an excellent example of an ibis mummy. The mummy was originally part of the Wallace N. Stearns collection and was part of the MacMurray College collection in Missouri.

A rare comical stoneware lidded jar in the shape of a blowfish by Mark V. Marshall for Doulton Lambeth, circa 1885. This globular vessel stands on three fin feet and the lid has a fin shaped handle. The entire piece is glazed in rich green, white and brown tones. The underside bears an impressed "Doulton Lambeth" mark, signature, and other incised factory marks. In excellent condition, it measures 6.5 inches high and 5.25" diameter.

A Pair of Large Chinese Early Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Foreigners (with Oxford TL Test)

This impressive and imposing pair of pottery figures was made during the early Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). They are "heavily-potted" and made from a fairly high-fired pale greyish-brown pottery. They have been "cold-painted" in a base coat of creamy-white pigment with details picked out on top in red and black pigments, especially to the heads and faces.

Extraordinary stunning Japanese robe of purple woven asa (hemp), with gold woven through in striations and bold gingko leaf design. The suou is the traditional kimono once worn during ceremonies by the samurai during the Muromachi period (1392-1573).
As styles of fashion evolved latter around the 17th century onwards, the suou became in important costume worn by the actors of the noh and kyogen theaters. Today the suou is still used in Noh and Kyogen, and with the Shrine maidens.

An unusual Japanese Keyaki burl front bar tansu. The drawer faces are each labeled in Japanese kanji. The top "drawer" is actually a lift away panel. The middle two drawers are slightly recessed behind a vertical locking bar with ornate iron plates. The lowermost drawer face has a middle iron lock plate continuously below the locking bar.
