A nice lot of three faience amulets, incl. an intact Horus amulet, a nice Best amulet and a Bastet amulet, both fractional.

Size: Bastet is c. 24 mm. for comparison.



Provenance: Formerly in the private collection of Eberhard Hanfstaengl (1886-1973). He was a famous German Art director and head of the Berlin National Gallery as well as other higher positions. Educated as Art Historian. Comes with COA.

A scarce thinbutted Danish Neolithic silex axe, mid-late 4th mill. BC.

The axe has a rarely seen feature with a carved ring in the middle of the head. Most thinbladed axes doesn't have this kind of fitting, so this specimen must have been fastened to the shaft in a different way than usual. Maybe used as an adze.

Size is 17 cm - 6,7 inches.

Condition: Choice axe, w. smaller chips. Resharpened in antiquity. Beautiful calky, white patina.

A choice Ancient Near East / Luristani tanged bronze dagger, dating to the 2nd mill. BC.

The dagger with high shoulders, short tang and the blade with central midrib.

Size: 24,9 cm.

Condition: Choice, a nice dagger with good metal. Some chips to the edge.

A fine silver ancient Islamic belt buckle from the earliest fase in the Islamic domination of the world, 7th.-9th. century AD.

A beautiful and perfectly intact belt buckle completely covered in black patina and in solid silver. Fine ornamentation.

Size: ca. 6 cm. long.

Condition: Superb! A partidularly fine specimen with completely black patina.

Very attractive thick early geomethric style cylinder seal, carved in marble or another calsite stone, Mesopotamia, Jemdet Nasr period, c. 3300-2900 BC.

A lot of 4 very nice to choice silex axes, dating to the Singlegrave and Daggertime periods, 2800-2000 BC.

Mostly polished axes with a attractive brown and grey patinations and in choice conditions with only minimal edge damage.

Fine hand axe from Northern Africa, Sahara Desert, Neolithic period, ca. 10,000 to 6000 BC.

A finely knapped bifacial in a lovely pinky-brown silex or chert, with inclusions. Partly polished gloss section.

During this time period, weather conditions called the Neolithic Subpluvial meant that the Sahara was a green, fertile landscape, ideal for hunter and gathering cultures.

A lovely high relief Cylinder seal in a greyish brown hard and glossy stone, Mesopotamia, Uruk period, 4th. millenium BC.

Carved in a fine purple stone with Deer springing and a fish, crescent above for the Moon god Sin.

Ancient Near East, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BC. A large elaborate bronze cloak pin, cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) process with poppy flower shaped terminal.

Used to fasten clothes, in this case due to the unusually heavy fabric and decoration, likely leather for presentation use - perhaps for a very thick cape or leather armor...

A very large bronze seal with a loop on the back and elaborate cross designs, Bactria, 3rd. millenium BC.

Very impressive round seal with a solid cross in the center and a circle around in the openwork style...

An interesting collection of 22 metal and stone antiquities dating from c. 1st mill BC to Byzantine / Medieval period.

Lot consist of 5 spindlewhorls - 4 with decorations - three in lead and two in ceramic. 15 tokens and weights in bronze and lead and finally two bronze dices.

Sizes up to 23-25 mm.

Finely made grit pattern at the base and quite scarce as a type.
