A beautiful ceramic dish with caligraphy, Nishapur or Samarkand, Samenid Dynasty, Western Asia 9th.-10th. century AD.

Lovely quality for the type with artful black and red caligraphy on a cream-white ground.

Size: 29 cm. in diameter.

Condition: Extremely fine, superb for this rare type and large size. Restored from a very few larger fragments with a very large part of original crackled glaze...

A superb quality Islamic bowl, Islamic, 12th century A.D. (494 AH – 597 AH). Ancient near East / Western Asia.

Cream, blue and black glazed pottery dish on a short foot. The center decorated with faint floral patterns in relief in the manor of the Seljuqs.

Condition: Very fine, completely original surfaces, a hairline crack restored. Exceptional silverish iridescence patina that is difficult to picture.

A fine set of three bronze and copper daggers, East Caspian Sea area, 3rd.-2nd. mill. BC.

The set includes one extremely fine dagger of later fabric, probably 1200-800 BC with a long bend tang.

Size: 177 mm., 173 mm., and 147 mm.

Condition: Choice VF to Extremely fine, uncleaned with sandy deposits.

Pair of very fine specimen of the earliest metal daggers known, BMAC / Indus, Chalcolithic period, 4th.-3rd. millenium BC.

Interesting and collectable daggers! Flat, leafshaped blades and very long, twisted tangs.

A finely incised Beetle scarab of a more naturalistic form with detailed engraving of the Beetle itself, New Kingdom, c. 1539–1075 BC.

Interesting engraving on the base with a large Ankh hieroglyphs that looks to have legs and is walking towards another elongated figural sign.

Size: 17-18 mm.

Condition: Very fine, intact with much wear to the glaze, attractive patina!

Lovely bronze battle axe, Ancient Near East, early 2nd. millenium BC.

Finely made battle axe with a long enforced and narrow blade with a ridge at the top and an elaborately made socket in a zoomorphic shape with a broad decorated backplate.

Size: 114 mm. long and 67 mm. tall.

Condition: Very fine, intact with a rough uncleaned encrusted green patina over beautiful brown and red surfaces. Can be cleaned.

An nice Head rest amulet, Egypt, Late Period, 664 - 322 B.C.

The stylized amulet carved in glossy red stone, probably haematite.

Size: 19 mm. wide

Condition: Very fine, intact but with some marks of corrosion and small chips.

Provenance: Formerly in the private collection of Eberhard Hanfstaengl (1886-1973). He was a famous German Art director and head of the Berlin National Gallery as well as other higher positions. Educated as Art Historian...

A very rare and interesting amuletic cylinder seal with top loop, Western Mesopotamia, c. 2200-1600 BC.

The amulet seal is shaped as a tied knot of robe with a loop at the top, engravings on the sides. We have never had such a piece in stock, high unusual!

Size: Substantial - 38 mm. tall and 11 mm. wide.

Condition: Nice VF, intact with deposits and cleaning marks.

Added to the Oberländer collection in 1993...

A superb bronze mace head decorated with faceted knobs around the swollen head and flanked by grooved bands with a tubular shaft, later bronzeage, ca. 1200-800 BC.

Size: Ca. 10,5 cm.

Condition: Superb for type, wonderful even green patina.

Interesting and very impressive massive armring, the bronze mixed with some silver to make a whiter alloy, Achaemenid or pre-Achaemenid period, ancient near east, 1st. mill. BC.

Thick and massive bracelet with complicated bimetalic design with twisted copper-wire, and larger twisted rods and ending in stylised animal heads. The bracelet with a lovely warm brown find patina.

Size: 83 mm. wide, weighing 407 grams.

A lovely green hardstone amulet in the form of a double ostrich feather, probably New Kingdom, 16th.-11th. century BC.

The front is flat with a shallow central groove delineating the two plumes.

Size: 36-37 mm. tall. Substantial piece in hand.

A wonderful matching set of three Mace Heads of the rare claw-shaped type, Bactria, 2nd. millenium BC.

Bactrian bronze egg-shaped mace-heads with spiked sleeves or prongs, Late 2nd Millennium BC. The top of the weapons with narrow edge, the sleeves with small internal tangs for mounting them to a shaft.

Size: Max 6,2 cm. wide and 7,1 cm. high. Choice condition for type, one cleaned, museum style, with a beautiful thin brown patina, the others with green patina and with rem...

A bronze Scythe, Turkmenistan / Caspian Sea Area, bronzeage 2nd.-1st. mill. BC.

Interesting large and very sharp blade, used as a harvesting tool and sometimes as a weapon as well. European bronzeage scythe blades (sicles) are fairly commenly sold on the market whereas sicles from the Near east or western asian bronzeage cultures are very scarce indeed. This specimen is larger than most European blades, whith a highly sharpened blade and a thick slightly bended back of blade.

A large uninscribed heart scarab, Rameside to Late Kingdom, c. 12th.-6th. century BC.

The scarab carved in a greyish type of stone, stylized type made to be placed at the heart of the body. The details of the head and front faintly incised.

Size: 55 mm. long and 34 mm. wide. Made of a heavy type of stone.

Condition: Good very fine for type, finely patinated.

A large Zoomorphic style bronze plaque with a loop for attachment on the back, Scythian c. 700-400 BC.

Attractive with a bird-like creature displayed in the advanced steppe style.

Size: 67 mm. tall and 29 mm. wide.

Condition: Nice VF, intact with a green patina.

Ex. Hafnia Coins, ancient coin dealer in Copenhagen, inventory from c. 1990s.

A finely engraved Hyksos scarab, 17th.-16th. cent. BC.

The scarab is engraved with robe pattern in the center and with other hieroglyphs to each side, untranslated.

The seat of power of the Hyksos kings was the city of Avaris in the Nile Delta, from where they ruled over Lower Egypt and Middle Egypt up to Cusae.

Size: 19 x 13,5 mm.

Condition: Nice Very fine and completely intact with remnants of torquise glaze in the devices.

Interesting large stamp seal of the conoid type in greenish glass, Achaemenid Empire, c. 7th.-4th. cent. BC.

The seal carved with the great King standing left with weapon and other figures, incl. a winged one.

Size: 19 mm. tall and 18 mm. wide.

Condition: Fine and intact, but with several internal fisures and a small chip. Comes with the original hard clay impression from below collection and ID-Card. Aquired to the Oberländer collection in 1991. Rare.

A finely detailed faiance figure, depicting Patake in Green-Torquise faiance, Late period Egypt, 525 - 341 BC.

Interesting scarce representation of the god naked.

Condition: Choice, intact with some overall wear to the glaze.
