Two pieces of very nice and symbolic shard from the Ming dynasty. The first shard to the left, has a coin design in the centre of the bowl with the lotus lappet surrounding it. The second shard, to the right, shows a lotus flower in full bloom. The lotus is considered a scared flower to the buddhist - a symbol of purity and perfection. In general it is a symbol of summer and fruitfullness...

A Chinese Qingbai Glazed Vase with Petalled Rim. Circa, 12th-13th Century, Song-Yuan Dynasty.
Found in the Philippines.
Featuring a thin and delicately potted lobbed-ovoid shaped body, supported by a flaring foot and is surmounted by a waisted neck that flares to a petal-cut rim. It is covered overall in a translucent glaze of aquamarine tone and its base is fully unglazed.

The head of Dionysos with almond-shaped eyes, a strong nose and a small mouth with pursed lips.
The broad beard with fine wavy strands. Undulated, slender moustache. The hairdo with strands of hair that end in curls, without the hair band above. Traces of red (carmine) pigment on the forehead and the beard.
Fine archaic style, excellent modeling. Mounted on an acrylic stand.

A fine early 18th sake flask, Tokkuri, of European form, the shape derived from Dutch Gin bottles. It is decorated with alternating panels of the Three Friends of Winter, Shochikubai, and a rather unusual combination of a Dragon amongst clouds, and stylised Ginko. The shoulders of the bottle are decorated with stylised Lotus mon amongst karakusa, and the top with a tako-karakusa, octopus scroll, border.

We proudly like to offer a 400 year old perfect Korean Gohon Ido shape chawan.
The fine, little iron bearing clay has been mixed with sand (suna gohon) and thrown into an ido shape widening towards the rim.
The light body is covered with a clear, little greyish ash glaze, reacting with the iron oxide in the body to develop the pink spots typical for that kind of Gohon bowls.
