A large Korean brass bowl that was used for mixing and preparing food in the kitchen during the late Joseon Dynasty. The bowl has been shaped and formed by pounding the brass(wrought). The resulting hammering marks can be seen on the surface of the bowl. The bowl measures 4 1/2" high x 13 3/4" in diameter, and dates to the early 20th Century. The condition is excellent, and it has been kept shined. The asking price includes shipping within the USA.

The early 20th century celluloid netsuke is 2 1/8” in diameter and 5/8” thick. This kind of netsuke is called “Kagamibuta.” It is shaped like a Manju (round doughnut) but with a metal disc serving as a lid to a shallow bowl. The pressed silver alloy disc has a dragon design. A Rice grain bowl, decorated in blue and white of diaper pattern and precious emblems to the bottom. Interior center with Heron and Lotus within double circle and surrounded the inner rim with five bats, the rest with transparency of rice grains decoration. Kangxi mark on the base, but late Qing 19th to early 20th century R.O.C period. Condition is very good, no any chip, no crack and free from any restoration. Diameter: 11,5 cm and Height: 5,8 cm.

Massive bowl hollowed out from a single tree, with primitive grooves at inner surface (as funtional design for catching pebbles for cleaning rice up when washing rice) and simple but also functional chiseled-grips at outside, early 20th century, Korea, approx.
