Antique Japanese wooden temple carving of a fu dog (fu lion, or shishi). Carved of keyaki (zelkova elm) wood with wonderful details including characteristic swirling fur and wide, toothy jaws, this fu dog is a powerful Shinto temple guardian. This absolutely charming pair of baby booties is from the late Qing dynasty. They are made of silk satin ivory colored fabric and have a large satin stitched butterfly on each side. The front of the booties have an appliqued butterfly with tassles and pompoms. They are in pristine condition with the exception of the one missing pompom on one bootie.

Antique 18th century, circa 1750. A.D. Edo period, Japanese Imari porcelain jar and cover. Body, of oviform, decorated in an iron-red on underglaze cobalt blue and gilt with peonies, chrysanthemums, and ho-o birds. This small mountain peak-form scholar's brush rest is molded with a wave design of scrolls, flowers and ribbons on the concave side. This side is also splashed randomly with underglaze cobalt blue. The base is flat and underglazed, now with dark soiling. The entirety is hollow and a small hole is visible to allow for air escape during the firing. It shows minor wear from use and is in overall very good condition, with no cracks, chips or repairs.

Large Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Camel with Oxford TL Test

This impressive pottery model of a Bactrian camel was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from a pale buff-coloured pottery, has good detail and has been "cold painted" in a base coat of a creamy-white pigment with details picked out in brown, red and black pigments. The camel stands upright and alert with its head held high and turned a little to its left. Its two humps are particularly prominent.
