A rare Polychrome Woodcut "Artisansin Straw" by Mitsuoki Tosa (1617 to 1601), Japan, framed. From a collection of Artisans. Good condition, size: 19.5" x 13.75". Tosa Mitsuoki was one of three outstanding Tosa painters to the imperial court, also known as "Three Brushes".

This Chinese antique wood carving was possibly part of an architectural structure or possibly from a piece of furniture. The wood is approximately 1.3 inches thick and retains much of the original finish though it is obviously worn in some areas. The tradition carvings of 2 dragons chasing the pearl is very well done. The piece is about 5 inches high and 17 inches long.

Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain covered box or jar with cover, Ca. 1850, 4 1/8" high, 4" wide-widest part, 3 7/8" diameter-top opening, drum shape box, top with raised nail head on the lower part of the box and the top. Overglaze Rose Medallion design inside the cartouches, the rest area is decorated with flowers, leaves and stylized flying bats in pink background enamel. The condition is good except very shallow flake chip the size of 1/8" wide inside the unglazed top rim area.

A finely potted large Chinese Imari three colour Charger decorated with a design of a garden with elaborate fence with Lotus finials to the posts and Mudan, flowering Peonies, Asters and various other flowers, coupled with a flowering Baicai, white cabbage (Pak Choi); traditional symbols of prosperity and wealth. 19th century Asakusa school staghorn netsuke in manju shape with openwork carving of a winged water dragon in flight among clouds. Superb design and excellent quality sharp carving, beautiful warm patina, darker porous areas as is usual with staghorn. Loss to the part of the inner ring (not visible when manju is put together, photo #5, lower right image) not affecting integrity of the piece. Diameter 1.6 inches.

This is cloth of indigo dyeing cotton made in Aichi in the Meiji era. It colors the both sides (Ryoumensome) with the same paper pattern. Ryoumensome could use both sides, but the quantity of the work of the dyeing was double. Most Katazome dyes only one side.
