Japanese Meiji to Taisho period ogi folding fan decorated with a single bird in flight over treetops. Signed at the right and with artist's seal. Late 19th to early 20th century. Measures about 8 3/4" vertical x 18 7/8" across from tip to tip. Very good, clean overall condition with some minor crinkling of the paper at the corners. A fine example of a coffee can made by the Seth Pennington Liverpool factory. The pattern, known as the "Scolding Woman" shows two polychrome Chinoiserie figures along with a large tree and rockwork.

Sterling silver tastevin made in Paris in the early 19th century, the handle decorated with a little bunch of grapes and leaves. One half with convex and concave indentations and the other godrooned, a classic and functional design showing the colour of the wine. There are three hallmarks: to the exterior a male head in profile right for Paris, introduced 1819, and a worn insect mark (“bigorne” mark), the interior with the Paris guarantee mark of a Dionysian head in profile left...

An opium scale made of two carved bamboo parts that pivot open at the rounded end and close together with a leather strap. A LIAO DYNASTY Terracotta Tsa-Tsa Votive Buddhist Plaque, China, AD 907-1125, with fine details. Nicely mounted on a wooden base. From a group of varied tablet sizes that were excavated, most likely from the foundations of an ancient Buddhist temple, placed there to ensure success and prosperity. Condition very good. Size 2.5" (6 cm.) No restorations. whatsoever.

A Ming Dynasty dish with Ivory-white glaze, Fujian wares possibly Zhangzhou 16th-17th century. condition is good except a tiny chip to rim, otherwise is perfect. Found at South Sulawesi. Diameter: 28,5 cm.

A nice stout wine jug with two handles at the wide shoulders. The two handles have deliberate cuts at the tops, probably to tie rope for securing the stopper. The brownish black glaze covers the jar to about 2.5 cm from the bottom.

Period: Song (12th/13th Century)

Condition: A couple of tiny glaze chips at the mouth's rim. The glaze is not degraded and still has a nice gloss.

An excellent example of an uncommon form, a Lowestoft hand painted butter boat, showing two houses on an island and with a lattice border on the leaf-shaped piece, and with an angular stalk handle. Retains the label of Rod Jellicoe, a well-known dealer in English porcelain.

The condition is excellent, with bright colors and no chips, cracks, paint loss, or restoration. 2 1/4" long by 2" wide.

An unusual Japanese 2 section, 6ft mizuya (kitchen buffet tansu) from the Kanazawa region. Constructed with Hinoki (cypress) and Sugi (cedar) woods, with red and black lacquer frame, and Keyaki (elm) burl front panels in reddish brown lacquer. The top of the piece holds a long open compartment behind four sliding panels with bookmatched Keyaki burl hardwood. Theriac or Mithridate lead seal, dating from the first years of the 17th century. Theriac (from a Greek word related to “wild beasts”) was a classic antidote, a mixture including snake flesh, opium, myrrh and minerals plus spices, adding up to more than 60 ingredients in all. Japanese hand-forged iron tsuba, used to protect a swordsman's hand from sliding up the blade during use as well as to provide balance. The openwork motifs depict a man and ox resting below pine trees and a cottage with gold gilt, with a faint signature illegible from wear.

Extremely fine and rare Doucai 18th century bowl, with well balance potted, decorated with four Dragon medallions among clouds scroll to exterior. The interior center with underglazed blue of dragon medallion. Six characters mark 'Da Qing Kang Xi Nien Zhe' and of the period and indicated as late Kangxi near to reach early Yongzheng. Diameter: 14,5 cm and Height: 7,1 cm.
